Bell played a similar type of role for Carlton last season though. Around 20 possessions. Fewer marks than Lynch but still around 4-5 marks a game. Lots of uncontested possessions, despite the perception that he played an in and under role.

IMO, the Lynch role is more midfielder/wing than traditional forward. 20 touches a game is high production.

I want Mayes to play the Lynch role, but am uncertain of his running ability. I'd think that is a role he would excel at as it will allow him to use his good vision and skills to pinpoint targets inside 50 or push forward and kick 2-3 goals.

Actually ever since Crisp has left who has been playing that HFF link role? I don't recall if we actually had someone play that which is strange considering how well Crisp played before he left.

IMHO, lettuce is only for decoration at barbeques. A mere distraction for the true carnivore.
