Ball was one of our best at the start of the season. Adams may be the next Luke Ball, but what happens if he's a complete flop?

It would also be completely disrespectful to get rid of him. Who got us into the 2011 grand final?
Dale Thomas?

We need to keep him on our list purely for his professionalism.
I seem to remember when Caff, Krak and Ball all did their knees,
Caff said that it was Ball that kept him going and motivated, with his dedication, preparation and desire to get back out on the track with the boys.

Adams last 2-3 Games in Ball’s Postion was very good and There is nothing to say he wouldn’t be a Gun in that Postion.

A month ago i would have been happy to see him go (if he wanted to) After watching the VFL game v Essendon i changed my mind. His effort and desire at the man and the ball stood out like dogs balls. He is now (post Maxy) the best leader we have, a true pro.

He doesn't have to play all season, no interstate travel, give him more responsibility. If Luke Ball calls out a youngster they'd better listen

Keep him in 2015, give him a rookie mentor role in 2016. I've become convinced we need him at the club until our future core players (Kennedy, Broomhead, Freeman, Karnezis, Frost, Seedsman, Witts, Grundy, Keeffe, Williams, Adams and Scharenberg all reach an average of 50-70 games). With no Maxwell, we have virtually no other senior leadership outside of Pendlebury and Lumumba.

He doesn't need to be in the 22, or play every game. But he needs to be there, setting standards on the training track, tutoring guys like Adams and Freeman. Also makes a handy ace up the sleeve as a pack crunching sub/finals specialist.

He is a fantastic leader and role model to have around the club and I hope he goes around for one more year. Even when playing at VFL level, he is a great mentor to the young lads developing there.

Luke Ball has played 80 games for us, 81 after Friday. So he needs to stay, we need to get 19 more games into him next year.

His kid will be a jet

I remember there was an episode of the club last year, for his 200th. He told his mum he wants to play 100 games for the club so I think it's a milestone he wants to reach.

that would be nice... but I don't see him playing 19 games next year (or staying on any longer than that).

It all comes down to fitness and where his mind's at, and thats something only he and the Club has a good idea of.

If we think he is fit enough to even play half the games next year - then we should keep him. If we think that is too much of a gamble, or if his mind isn't in it to play on - then consider dropping him from the squad... but keep him around the club for coaching/development. (Maybe even rookie list him like Huddo if he is ok with that)

There are times when he just seems far too slow. But I have loved that man and the number 12 ever since he came to the club. He shows so much leadership and that is something we are lacking. As long as he understands that he will always have to earn his spot and may be spending time in the VFL I can't see a reason to not keep him on the list!

It really is a win win situation. Either Ball is in great form and plays in the AFL or he struggles and gives leadership around the club and to the young players in the VFL.

The loss of Maxwell has highlighted the lack of leadership in the place. I can't see why Ball can't be a regular sub much like Gia did for the Dogs.
When the pace of the game has slowed down in the 2nd half, Ball can be of highest value with his intelligence and decision-making. He'd know what to do depending on the situation rather than just trying to pick up lots of possessions that the younger kids tend to do.

Keen for Ball to stay. We need an elder leader to help out Pendles around the ground on game day.

Surely Macaffer going down has to come into it as well? Obviously him and Ball play different roles but we are already one senior body down in the guts, losing another one spells trouble I think.

Was about to point out this as no one until the last post had mentioned it.
With Caff out next year and our lack of leaders I think it's a no-brainer that they keep him on. Caff being down brings our on-field leaders down by one more, and we are without a tagger.
I don't see why both Ball and Adams can't play together and rotate between defensive midfield and defensive forward, Ball especially should be able to take on the bigger-bodied opposition midfielders whilst he mentors Adams and the other young blokes.
He wants to go on so unless there's some sort of Daisy-like injury going on that we don't know about the sign him up now!

LUKE BALL IS A STAR and we need him around in 2015 for Bk, BROOMY, ADAMS and our new draft kids for that mentor role :)
