Opinion Make the SANFL great again

AFL reserves is the way to go i think. SANFL can replace them with Mount Barker their oval is good enough for AFL games they should be in the SANFL

That and promotion and relegation through all the leagues in the state. Create a pyramid a la the English football leagues.
The traditional SANFL clubs have a huge advantage already so shouldn't be too much of a shake up. The new teams would simply replace us and Port.

Relegation is a terrible system, a relic of a bygone era. It’s a legacy that no one wants

Literally no one would choose it now

Yeah you're probably right.
2 new teams replacing Crows and Port would be the way to go though

Someone made a really good point, not sure if it was this thread or another, about the fact the Crows reserves have only played one game, while the AFL team has already played four.

So not only is it horrible for the SANFL… it’s not even working the way it needs to for the AFL clubs.

That's why they need to bring in AFL reserves and they all play as curtain raisers to the AFL games. I'd love to watch the reserves play before the AFL game

The SANFL season is predicated by having to finish the week before the AFL GF which subsequently defines the start date which unfortunately is just prior to Gather Round which again the AFL doesn’t want SANFL played that weekend, not much of this is really decided by the SANFL

But therein lies the problem that the concept just doesn’t work

Meritocracy not your thing eh?

You'd prefer stagnation through the ACTUAL relic which is zoning.
