So, given the success of Kyptastic ‘s BigFooty Top 100 Movie countdown early in 2013, and that countdown being revisited recently, and the fact they haven’t stopped releasing movies in the meantime, we’ve decided to update the Top 100 movie list. This time we’ll allow any lists from a Top 10 up to a Top 20.

The way to participate is as follows:

1) Create your list. Try to pick your favourites, don't worry too much if they're critically acclaimed or would likely appear on anyone else's list.

2) Order your list from 1-20 and post it in this thread, or if you’re not comfortable doing that, PM me your list. Make it clear what your order is, as it will be important for the tallying of the votes. If you only have 17 movies, just list 1-17. However, unordered lists and lists with less than 10 movies will not be counted.

3) You will have three weeks to collate and submit your list. Voting will end 23:59 AEDST on Saturday November 29th, and all going well the countdown commencing on the 30th. Every movie at #1 on a list will get 20 points, #2 movies will get 19 points and so on until #20, which will get 1 point.

Any questions or queries should be posted in this thread.

_________________________________________________________________________________

Couple of notes (lifted straight from Kyptastic) :

Make sure that you are specific about which movie you are voting for, particularly if there are movies of the same name or remakes out there.

eg.12 Angry Men (1957) vs12 Angry Men (1997)
Captain America (1990)
vsCaptain America (2011)

In the case of film series, you should be voting for specific movies within that series, rather than the series themselves.

eg.The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) instead of justThe Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban(2004)
instead of justHarry Potter

Any other clarifications made will be posted here.

On silents, Man with a Movie Camera would sneak into my top 50 (although more of a visually minded documentary than a traditional silent I guess), and I would have Sunrise and The Gold Rush in my top 200.

But I guess when kept to a top 20, entire sections of cinema can unfortunately be left by the wayside.

Love the sheer diversity in your list benji2, nice work!

Oh it's hard, no doubt. It was a bloody struggle having to actually try to give an order. Usually I note that it's no particular order because my choices aren't so clear cut. And now I feel really bad for leaving a lot of stuff out.

Thanks guys... I am a silent movie buff, no doubt about it. There were a few more such as Fritz Lang's Spies, Battleship Potemkin and The Sentimental Bloke that would have been in my Top 30 or 40.

Wasn't consciously trying to cover such a wide cross section.

The film publisher Eureka! are releasing a blu-ray version of Spies/Spione this month if that happens to pique your interest at all.
