QAFL 2023 Season

So Sherwood seem to be flying under the radar here due to Mt Gravatt's implosion. Regardless of how many injuries occurred for them which were record number ACLs.

They only won the one game last year which wasn’t until later in the season at home. Their reserves, whilst winning 4 games, also finished last. Need to see some serious improvement to turn that around.
Been saying this for the last few years... will be interesting to see what AFLQ say.. probably nothing

With Coorparoo coming in and the assumed demise of MtG, if the vultures improve and get everything sorted and finish higher then Sherwood some serious questions need to be asked of AFLQ comp managers and adminstrators of that club.

Unlikry anything chnages though as Thomas has said, their charter is to supply QAFL pathway to that region ... and it seems all without consequence or pressure too

Hey Thomas ... decline many regos from all the clubs around you this year, or still taking all the talent and claiming it as your own ? :D

AFLQ couldn’t give a fig about a clubs on field performance. As long as they don’t implode and cause an embarrassment. But don’t expect any meaningful assistance if you do have an issue.

FIIK, why don’t you lead the Ipswich clubs to work together to create a footy program for talented players to stay for?

In every other part of SEQ talented players make their way to QAFL clubs. You guys are no different.

BTW based on Facebook posts I believe Sherwood does acknowledge the junior club of players who graduate to seniors.

Won't get a game I don't think. They are stacked in their mids and Aston is a front runner ahead of the footy. Only way he might get a look in would be as a high forward with his work rate, but he will need to defend, even in their forward line at that level
Couldn’t agree more, he sucks. Complete front runner & a coward on the sauce for that matter!

What hasn’t been referenced enough in this forum is the “elite” tagging performance from Ryan Dadds in the morningside intraclub over the weekend. Could he be the top end defensive mid the panthers have been searching for??

Tough gig for Ryan, been around Queensland football for a long time. Deserves more!

Wasn’t he top 5 in tackles last year in the comp? Maybe even top 3? Probably shows he defends pretty well considering he was also on the leaderboard for disposals and clearances.

I’m sure if Brock has any defensive issues they will be exploited at VFL Level.

I have a strong passion for local football. I currently live in Tasmania (hence the profile name) but am going to be moving to Brisbane in the next couple of years. Due to this I have started showing a strong interest in the QAFL and lower levels of football in SE Queensland.

Few Clubs very active and some nice additions. Think Competition will be up a notch across the board in 2024.

Good work Tassie think might be a few missing from Morningside that will no doubt come to light in next few weeks. At least 4 I can see that are missing that will make a difference.

Broady have signed Sharks VFL aligned players Ben Jepson and Jackson Edwards.

Jepson is the reigning best and fairest from Coburg and Edwards, son of Tyson, spent time on the Eagles list.

Both good gets

No doubt ,, the issue is their playing resumes indicate they may well be playing Vfl every week ,, remains to be seen hey ,
Imo thats a big issue for us ,, we have to many players on the Southport list and we have to many youngsters onour list ,,, the missing link is the required strong bodied experienced players in the 24 to 32 years of age bracket

The problem maybe is how often Southport allow them to play at Broadbeach. Not ideal sometimes

yes spot on there .....Riley Bowman would of won the Grogan by 10 votes if they allowed him to play ,,,there were at least 4 games that occured..He would be at our game watching from the sideline whist Southport were playing down in Melbourne ,, just absurd.

Must say,, Broady are looking ok all of a sudden with the release of the latest announcements of recruits ,, ( thay have layed low and quiet over the pre season ) ,,

For those who know their QAFL. Who would come out on top at their best. 2013 Morningside or 2023 Aspley? And to be more specific, GF played at Yeronga.
