Lol wut?

He isn't spending $1m a year on rent and groceries.

That's right. Read the sentence immediately prior. I was placing the cost of living allowance into context, and blunting the argument that it's a huge advantage.

It was not. And it was not why we got Tippett and Franklin. The list that won the 2012 premiership was tipped by most commentators to miss the finals.

COLA should've only applied for rookie contracts in the first place. Anyone making over $100k per year in this country is not struggling to get by, end of.

That's the reality isn't it?
Not really. The CoLA wasn't brought in to address cost of living compared to everyday living. It came in when the cap was a lot smaller in real terms and relative to the rest of the AFL, Sydney living expenses took up a much larger part of a players salary compared to the rest of the league.

Yet his contract is worth 20% less because of the cost of living differential in Sydney. It wasn't a massive advantage. It addressed a disadvantage. The disadvantage became less relevant as players salaries headed north of $200k but it's still there. A $1 million contract in Sydney is actually worth only $800k.
Poor thing it's like rio Ferdinand complaining that he couldn't afford to grocery shop on 150 k a week
