Sandy Roberts has blood cancer

Former channel 7 and Fox Footy commentator Sandy Roberts has been diagnosed myeloma, a cancer that has the lowest survival rate of all forms of all blood cancers.

I just read about this. How sad. Sandy has had his share of tragedy in his life. I've heard him interviewed many times and he seems to be a ripping guy. I wish him all the best in his remaining time and thank him for all the great sporting memories that he bought to our loungerooms.

Horrible news. He appears to be doing well (as well as one can be) and hopefully it stays that way for as long as possible.

His commentary as a youngster growing up watching C7 was a real highlight and I’d imagine for all WCE supporters who witnessed 92, his (and Dennis’s) call of that match is the stuff of legend.

Watching that game (repeatedly) as a youth/adult (having missed fully understanding it live), wow. Puts pretty much all of the “modern” commentary to shame.
