Season 15 GRAND FINAL
Vs.
FORM:
The West Coast Wonders enter this match in prime condition after the week off. Having finished a narrow second on the ladder, the Wonders clenched a strong victory away from home against the Bombers in order to secure a Grand Final berth. Their consistency all season has been a cornerstone, and nobody could fault the clinical way in which the Wonders have handled this season.
On the other hand we have the Furies. A team that nobody could quite place all season. In and out of the top 4. But they have hit form at the right time opt the season. Their last few weeks have been extraordinary, and their narrow come from behind victory over the Baghdad Bombers in the preliminary final has to fill them with massive confidence.
Both teams enter the match with form, but which team will be able to replicate it and why? Let's hear from our...
Celebrity tipsters:
Jobe3Votes: I am tipping a draw. That way I can post each line of commentary separated by 10 minute intervals, just to build suspense. The thread will last for weeks!
Boncer34: Who made the Grand Final?
StFly: The paramaters in which the game will occur will result in a complex set of networks which shall lead to a Furies victory. One must enjoy the game and the way in which it will be played, and remember that the result is a subsidiary to the game itself. The Furies have an intricate midfield operation and will win, with the alternative quintessentially impossible.
Jugallo Balla: The sim is rigged, so ask Loopy.
Josef Fritzl declined to comment.
CONTROVERSY has struck the SFA Grand Final before the thread has even been published. Respected Wonder PVF has come under investigation following a tweet directed at Furies star Eagleoz83. PVF later deleted the tweet after club direction, but the damage was done.
Players to Watch:
Eagleoz83 is an absolute star. He wasn't the best on the ground last week for the Furies, but he still managed to step up at the right time and set up the winning goal with just a minute remaining. The midfielder has had a sublime season, raking up possessions and hitting the scoreboard.
Filthy Sanchez is another member of the damaging Furies midfield brigade. He has had a good season, and has been part of a trifecta of big ball winners. He will be closely watched this week, particularly to see whether or not he can name the team correctly.
ClarkeM will he clean up EagleOz? All eyes will be on the pair early in the Grand Final. ClarkeM is a veteran and has been around long enough to not be affected by the hype of Grand Final week.
ShaunDuggan well revered by his teammates, this is SD's chance to make his mark on the field. After a serviceable season, the skipper must back himself to take the game on.
Last Time They Met:
This will really whet the appetite. Last time these two teams met was in Round 13: Fighting Furies 18.14 (122) drew West Coast Wonders 17.20 (122). The Wonders were perhaps a little inaccurate away from home, but it was a magnificent game and possibly the game of the season. Could we see a replica this week? The game was dominated by usual suspects, with EagleOz83 simply incredible. Filthy Sanchez wasn't too far behind, and Wise Guy Sam played a blinder for the Wonders. If the House of Gumby can host anything like that quality, the place might just collapse.
At the Venue:
The Wooden Spooners have provided us with a neutral venue for this years Grand Final, and they are very excited about it. Peterss is ruoured to be considering posting in the match thread twice out of excitement. The Fighting Furies played at the venue most recently, defeating the lowly Gumbies by 21 points in the Round 16. The Wonders played at the venue in Round 8 and also won the game by...21 points.
TAB Analysis:
"Jaimee Rodgers here from TAB sportsbet. This week's Grand Final between the Wonders and the Furies has seen a lot of action already. The Wonders opened as $1.78 favourites, but have drifted to $1.85. The Furies have firmed from $2.05 to $1.95. Keep an eye on the movement this week. Given the last match these two teams was a draw, and given the last two games these two played at the venue ended up in wins by the exact same margin against the same team, there has been a stack of money for the draw. It is in from $51 to $31. TAB have decided not to publish a first goal kicker market until teams are named."
Teams are due by 9PM AEST. LET THE GAMES BEGIN.
