A late move to get Juggs back in the forwardline betrays just how confident Metro feel as that half comes to an end. They have this championship within their graps now as they take a commanding 31 point lead into the long break. Metro just outclassed The Allies in the wet in that half, even though The Allies have been brave and have been taking it up to them. Metro clearly wanted the footy more and have kicked more goals as a result. Once again towards the end of that quarter Metro were able to enter their fifty almost at will and keep it in there to the distraction of the Allied defenders.

Freakie has three in a dominant display so far at full forward. For the Allies, their captain is still trying to rally the troops but this must be a worrying sign for him. They could barely get their hands on it in the last 8 minutes of that term. There will be much to think about in The Allies' brainstrust over the long break.

After some early use the Metro bench has not been as active as The Allies. Being able to inject a fresh Duggan and RUL onto the field towards the end of the last is a luxury for The Allies.

It is all over, The Allies are the champions!

To say Metro ran out of gas in that last quarter would be an understatement worthy on the podium of biggest understatements knwon to man. Many of them could barely get out of a jog as they were totally dismembered by The Allies. They hung on grimly, they fluffed a few chances and they looked nervous at times, but in the end they ran all over the top of Metro and are the rightful victors in this tournament.

For Metro this is a bitter pill to swallow. They have struggled to run games out since round one, but their brilliance in the first three quarters has usually got them over the line. Not this time. This time they were clinically exposed in the last term to be simply unfit enough to win this championship. They came so far, from winless to within a quarter of glory. But they could not resist The Allies when it mattered.

For Metro, WGS, TPM and Eth were all outstanding, as was their forward fulcrum G_H. But against Reardo, Marklar, A Flying Pube and IMS they came up short. Up front Freakie and Jobe finished with a similar bag of four, but it was the number of players who had one shot on goal for one behind that really hurt them. A bigger lead might have sapped The Allies' energy more effectively than the tough first 3 quarters did.

Thanks for the game Metro, you guys were great all tourney and really looked like you had our measure for the first 3 quarters, every time we looked to get a run on Freakie stepped in with a goal.


To the Allies boys, fantastic win guys, in difficult conditions we fell a long way behind, but never gave up and fought it out, in the last quarter momentum swung our way and we were able to capitalize!!
Special mention to our game plan to rotate players off beez and reduce his influence, he had a big tournament and shutting him down played a massive part.

Congratulations to Logger, despite the rubbish you copped in that last game, I thought the SoO overall was fantastically put together, it was done in a short space of time and restricted time frames, but overall, was just excellent. :thumbsu:

It's funny how the SoO Grand Final was between two teams which aren't even states. Well played for 3 quarters Metro, disappointed we let them steal this one from us.

Good game Metro, enjoyed the banter.

Very good effort to all allies. There were times when it didn't look like this team would go ahead and we'd have to play with NSW and the like, so a big thank you to everyone who got the team together.

Now onto Mexico for my homecoming fiesta before season 15 with the Furies.
