The bloke who destroyed Alderaan, what an oversight!

Do you remember if he's ever referred to by name in the movies?
I think he's only referred to as "Governor Tarkin" by Leia, don't think Grand Moff is ever mentioned.

Who the feck is Kyle Katarn? If they only appeared in novels or whatever, you gotta assume they won't be in the films at all, much less have a film based around them.
Yeah he is only in the extended universe.
Very cool character.

Vader's role was changed after A New Hope. In that film he's officer-level and other officers openly disagree with him (not just the guy he chokes). Empire Strikes Back onward they're terrified of him.

The Grand Muff is aka Peter Cushing

He died in 1994.

Did they CGI him into the end of Ep 3?

LOL at this

Star Wars[edit]
In 1976, Cushing was cast in Star Wars in the part of Grand Moff Tarkin. He was presented with ill-fitting riding boots, which pinched his feet so much that he was given permission by director George Lucas to play the role wearing his slippers. The camera operators filmed him only from the knees up, or else standing behind the table of the Death Star conference room set.

If it didn't happen in a movie it doesn't exist.

Don't be one of those "book canon" idiots.
Tarkin was in Episode III.

Thought the guy who did it imitated Cushing's posture quite well.

Strong resemblance too.
