nah, pretty sure it's LB, It's where he's been playing in the pre season games.
He's a CB by trade but played at RB last season a lot with Charlton. Im pretty sure he is a natural right footer. I think Rodgers was having a look at him at LB in the preseason to see if he can be cover or even play in front of Moreno as im not sure he is rated too highly by Rodgers right now.

As silly as is sounds.. Do you think sterling might struggle a bit going from liverpool as the main forward for the majority of the time to Man City where the ball will be going to ageuro, nasri, bony and toure just as much if not more than himself?

He was at his best when he was playing with Suarez and Sturridge.

He is one of those players that wants to be the main guy on the team. I just have a feeling that he might struggle with all them around.. I hope so anyway :p

Nope don't agree with that.
I don't think Sterling wants to be the main guy. But Rodgers tried to use him as a Suarez, that's why he was totally cooked throughout the season.

Saw him played for England after the end of the season, he played a lot better, he was passing the ball instead of trying to dribble past 2-3 players.

Unfortunately I think he will do quite well in Man City.

Sterling will go extremely well at City. He is at his best when he isnt the main man. He can eventually be the main man but right now he is too young to take on such a burden. But with guys like Aguero, Silva, Bony, Yaya etc around him at City, he will be deadly just like he was when he was surrounded by Suarez, Gerrard and Sturridge at Liverpool.

Having said that though, he is an absolute campaigner of a bloke and im glad we sold him.

Cos im slack and cant be bothered looking it up. Does anyone know when Phase Two will begin? Phase two being the expansion of the Anfield Road end.

Edit - nevermind, looked it up cos it was bothering me. It appears no time frame has been set.

Ok so here is a round up of my tour.

Ill start with just what I got up to and then a take on the two games and the squad in general.

Brisbane was good, bitterly cold but stalked the team as usual. I was outside the hotel and Rush and Fowler arrived in a van. As Fowler got out, I shouted at him and said "Robbie, give us a wave" he looked over waved and said hello, so in my warped mind, I now believe I have met Robbie Fowler haha.

I was outside the hotel when a bus came through carrying most of the reserves. It kinda came out of nowhere and it seemed like the hotel staff werent ready. There were quite a few people outside the hotel and then they hurriedly put up metal barricades. But in the rush, I nipped right in and got right up against the rail, right near the bus. I took a video as the following piled off the bus. Wisdom, Ibe, Lambert, Markovic, Lovren, Rossiter, Bogdan, Allen, Tex, Moreno, some of the young kids too and the last man off was Kolo which the crowd instantly broke into the Kolo song which he appreciated.

My two mates who I was with wanted to hang out at the hotel for longer to see if more players cames back but I decided to head to the square where they were doing a signing with Hamman and Garcia. I was turning up late and the lines were huge so I knew I was no chance to get anything signed or meet them but I just wanted to see if I could get some good pics of Didi and Luis.

I rocked up just as it was finishing. I watched as Hamman came off the stage. It was set up with a marquee and everyone was piled up in front of it. But I watched as he came off stage. He slipped behind the marquee and inbetween the merch tent. All the LFC fans were in the square but in front of the marquee.

So I just stepped behind the marquee. Pedestrians could still walk there as a way to get through the square without the chaos. But there was literally nobody there. All the fans were on the other side. So I walked down and there is Didi just standing a few feet behind a rail. So I just walked right up and asked him for a pic which he was kind of enough to let me even though he was surrounded by about 5 or 6 officials.

Luis was next but I was waiting for him to come down off the marquee. Much to my chagrin though, a few people had noticed what I did, then a few people noticed the people that noticed me and within a minute, it was packed with Liverpool fans and security arrived to escort Hamman and Garcia through the crowd and into the building right behind the marquee.

Still I got fairly lucky and was pretty rapt with myself to somehow dodge all the crowds, turn up late and still get a selfie with Didi Hamman!

The next day I went to the signing again for Luis Garcia, the lines were madness and not really in any shape. So it was just pot luck whether or not we got to the front. Somehow luck favoured us and we managed to get up on stage and I got Garcia to sign my new Henderson shirt I had bought the previous day. Also got a picture with him.

Those pics of me up on stage with Garcia also went up on Liverpool's official twitter feed and on Liverpool's official website so I thought that was cool.

Onwards to Adelaide and I managed to get up on stage and get Garcia and Hamman to sign my Coutinho home shirt from last year. Shook both there hands but they were saying only sign or picture. Id already had pics with them so decided to get them to sign my shirt.

Then the cherry on top happened after the game in Adelaide. The PA had announced that the guys that didnt play would do a small training session about half an hour after the game. So we thought we would stick around. We found this place in Adelaide Oval, like a corporate area I think that had a bar and a band playing. It had floor to ceiling glass windows to look out and watch the training.

So we were just having a bev there and watching the guys train when my mate says.... Claire Rourke. Im like "* off, where?" and he points, and she is making her way around the boundary. I literally drop my drink and start running. I run back inside past all the people watching the band hit the stairs and run down two flights to get to ground level. Then I charge for the boundary, she is moving though so I keep running but trying to stay ahead.

It isnt packed on the boundary so I pick my spot about 10 meters in front of her trajectory. She comes over to stop and speak to some kids near the boundary. Then she moves away and heads back in field and away, i shout out... "Claire can I get a selfie?" She turns, and walks over. She comes over, doesnt say a word, fixes her hair, poses. I take the pic. I say... "thanks luv" and off she goes, my future wife, into the night. Haha.

I wasnt lucky enough to get any pics or signatures of the current squad but I did alright for the tour. I got unlucky in Brissie as the girl who served us in the Apple store said Hendo and Lallana had been in the store about half an hour before. Then in Adelaide after the game, we left the Casino around midnight and apparently at 2am, Joe Allen, Claire Rourke and a few others came through.

Overall though, not too bad. Making LFC's official feed and the official website I thought was awesome and meeting Luis Garcia and Hamman and getting a pic with Claire was a big win.

Anyways, sorry to bore you all. Onto my thoughts of the games, the training and the squad in general.

Also did any of you guys go over? How did you guys go? Meet any of the lads, get any selfies, autographs?

Ok so onto the games.

Ill just go through a few of the players that impressed me and those who didnt.

Nobody in central defense impressed me. Skrtel was alright, Sakho had a nightmare against Brisbane in the first 20 mins or so and Lovren did nothing to show me that he should be picked ahead of either of Skrtel or Sakho, who for me are still our first choice pairing down back.

I thought Clyne was alright in both games, didnt particularly stand out though. Gomez on the other hand was quite impressive. I felt that both Brisbane and Adelaide targeted Gomez as he is a young player playing out of position. But he was up to the challenge. He looks a real player and given his performances and being given the number 12 shirt, I think he will play a part for us this season.

Which part and how big a part, we are yet to know. Clearly IMO Rodgers rates him. Spells trouble for Moreno as it looked like Rodgers was trialling Gomez on the left to see if he could play there and hold down that position. Ultimately I was impressed with him though so I wouldnt even mind seeing him named at LB when we open the season against Stoke. Moreno has some work to do.

I thought Milner was outstanding in both games. Scored in both games and that just shows you what kind of end product he has coming forward from midfield. From all reports, Rodgers has promised him a central midfield spot and City fans have said he never impressed when played centrally. But in those two games, albeit against inferior opposition, he looked the goods. Hopefully he can continue that throughout the year and give us a real danger from midfield in the final third. Something we dont get from Allen, Lucas, the young Emre Can and to a smaller extent, Hendo.

Lallana I thought was impressive. He could be in for a big year and with Firmino and Coutinho unable to join up with the team, he is really pressing his claims to start against Stoke. He had no preseason last year so hopefully with a full preseason behind him, he can make a real impact all season. He looks classy and scored a cracking goal against Brisbane. He had tough opposition though to get into those AM spots but he has been very good.

It's hard not to get excited about Jordan Ibe. Came on against Brisbane and just tore s**t up. Direct, powerful, fast, confident. He looks ready to make a real mark on the first team. Was a constant danger against Brisbane and against against Adelaide where he laid on the first goal for Milner. Again he has tough competition for those AM spots but he has certainly pushed himself ahead of Markovic and probably sits just behind Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana for a first team spot.

I thought Origi was pretty average. Looks to have all the attributes of a great player but cant quite put it together yet. Id love to see him go out on loan to a PL or Championship side this season. Let him develop further and then keep on Balotelli as a 4th option behind Benteke, Sturridge and Ings. Id prefer Lambert as the 4th option but he appears easier to sell. Surely Borini goes too.

Ings though was hit and miss. I thought he was average against Brisbane but very good against Adelaide. His goal was very well taken against Utd and what he will do is always put in a shift. Needs to work on his first touch which was a bit Kuytesque against Brissie.

Also a small note on Kent who came on against Brisbane. His first chance to get involved was a long raking cross field ball to him and he looked to have spent it before he got it as he miscontrolled when completely alone and the ball eluded him and went out. I thought that might smash his confidence but then he just took the game on. Had bags of pace, close control, wasnt shy to take a player on. He had an excellent half an hour.

Anyways those were just a few random thoughts from the two games.

Now looking at the squad. This would be my team to face Stoke on opening day.

4-3-3

-----------Mignolet-----------
Clyne--Skrtel--Sakho--Moreno
-------------Can--------------
-----Milner------Henderson----
Firmino---Benteke---Coutinho

The problem with this lineup though is shunting Coutinho out wide. Firmino can actually play up top, he isnt a pure striker but more a forward, could dovetail with Benteke well. Id use his ability to play anywhere across the front three to move back to the 4-4-2 diamond to move Coutinho back into the middle. So more this.

-----------Mignolet-----------
Clyne--Skrtel--Sakho--Moreno
-------------Can--------------
-----Milner------Henderson----
-----------Coutinho-----------
-------Firmino---Benteke-----

I think that lineup would work better for us. Another lineup to keep Coutinho central is the 4-2-3-1 lineup. But that would push Milner out of his apparently promised CM spot.

-----------Mignolet-----------
Clyne--Skrtel--Sakho--Moreno
--------Can----Henderson----
Milner----Coutinho----Firmino
-----------Benteke------------

Milner has to push forward as we cant go with Milner and Hendo as the two in midfield as we need at least one DM to protect the back four. In a 4-2-3-1 and maybe even the diamond I would prefer perhaps Lucas to come in. Can is so talented though, I want him starting most matches. I dont really care where, just anywhere in midfield.

No idea how it's going to work with Benteke. Might be Carroll mkII or he might be awesome. Im leaning towards somewhere in the middle. Not dire, but not a raging success and will be quickly replaced by a fit Sturridge once he returns.

In all three formations ive kept the same XI though and we have some decent depth.

Bogdan
Toure, Ilori, Lovren, Gomez, Enrique, Wisdom
Lucas, Allen
Lallana, Ibe, Markovic
Sturridge, Ings, Origi

Id like us to add one more full back and another CM wouldnt go astray.

how many knickers did ya give away

jod23 the only problem I see there is that front 3 haven't played a minute for LFC yet this season! we still have a couple of friendlies to go and hopefully they all feature in some capacity but right now I definitely see Lallana in one of those slots but nobody has other one, I'd probably say Coutinho would start against Stoke leaving Firmino as definite impact off the bench... but there's no certainty Benteke would start against Stoke (imagine the premature meltdowns), all depends on the last couple of games. It would be great if Ibe was ripping it enough to start him, leaving less on the shoulders of the Brasillians.

Can I get a tl;dr on what jod just wrote please?

the new young signings aren't killing it, Ibe is, Lallana is, Milner is, we still need a great centre half, he got on LFC's official twitter and didn't post a pic, he is mad and ran 2 flights of stairs when he saw Claire Rourke from 500 meters away :D
