The New Zealand tour match in Blacktown was called off because of this:

Imagine having to bowl on that. A CA XI declared on 1/503. Western Sydney
Looks like Finch got hungry and started grazing.

Remember the old days where a tour had more than a bs slapped together warm up for the visitors anyway

The test side is interesting Marsh and Bancroft failed to perform on the cancelled tour I guess

Voges is a waste of space

Solid start to the test. Only caught bits and pieces throughout the day from the cricinfo commentary and the last hour via the radio but general consensus was NZ bowling was fairly ordinary but Warner and Uzzie played fairly sensible innings' and Burns looked solid.
Southee and Boult did well in the first hour (and Southee did all day) but after that they were kinda trash in their play. Was a bit disappointing but good to see the younger guys grab the chance

Yep, and his brother needs to see a shrink to get his head sorted.
Couldn't agree more. Today showed Shaun has the technique and talent but not the mental strength for test cricket

Always had talent, but he and Voges are not up to it
Would rather Voges than Marsh. But not sure who comes in. Dont follow the Shield nearly as closely as I should.

Finch in LukeParkerno1 ;)

The words 'no' and 'absolutely no' in terms of Finch. Slogger who has no off side, watch good bowlers just get him nicking all season long in Shield cricket.

Options:

Peter Handscomb- Already a hundred and a 98 this season. Probably needs a full season though ideally.
Marcus Stoinis- Very good year last year, backed up with a big hundred in the current Shield game. Handy change bowler too.
Chris Lynn- probably the most talented out of the lot, but injured at the moment.
Cameron Bancroft- Poor start to the year
Nic Maddinson- he's closer than you think. Hundred this match, 50 in the last match, and a good year last year.
Callum Ferguson- solid, but at 30...is it time to look a bit to the future?
Travis Head- needs a season.

Maddinson is a certainty as he plays for you know who.
Test cricket atm has some s**t teams and we might be one. Just wait for the helmet kisser when he peels off a couple of tons against just about the worst team in the Windies

I'm not Maddinson's biggest fan, but he actually plays differently in Shield cricket...and he doesn't open (bats at 4). My preference is Handscomb actually, but if Lynn was fit he would be the one personally.

XI for this test should be;
1 David Warner
2 Joe Burns
3 Steve Smith*
4 Travis Dean
5 Peter Handscomb
6 Glenn Maxwell (or Marcus Stoinis)
7 Peter Nevill +
8 James Pattinson
9 Scott Boland
10 Josh Hazlewood
11 Nathan Lyon
12th man: Siddle/Bird

Don't see the point of S.Marsh & Voges playing in this series when you have so many young Victorians chomping at the bit who could get valuable experience at international level. They're all more than capable and they'd all be more than confident in their abilities against this junk Windies side.

If they couldn't cut it against the Windies then revert back to Voges / S Marsh / Bailey / Cowan / Ferguson / Dunk / Klinger types in the middle order and when we play a stronger opponent.

Jesting with the Vic bias but serious about this being an opportunity missed for some young players to step up. Alex Ross, Matt Renshaw, Sam Heazlett, Jake Lehmann, Pat Cummins, Joe Mennie, Andrew Fekete, Chris Tremain, Simon Mackin, Jason Behrendorff, Joel Paris are others who all could have potentially been given opportunities in this seeies to replace Siddle, Voges, Marsh & Marsh.
