I understand Non-religious people do horrible things, but that doesn't really have any impact on my point.

And saying mass shootings aren't a result of religion is incorrect, as some are.

I agree there are evil religious and non-religious people, but that doesn't make religion any less dangerous

It's a hugely complex and ever changing region the Middle East which I'm sure many of us on here wouldn't understand and therefore should be hesitant on commenting about. Islam whilst a religion is a complete way of life and whilst the majority I still believe truly follow a religion of peace and harmony, many have vastly different views on it's interpretation and practice radical Islam. This also is likened to many other religions.

Thoughts are with those still being held and there families and hopefully ends peacefully for the hostages.

sorry Eddie I've just seen this, but I think the discussion has unfolded here.

There's an awful lot of assumptions being made here and I would suggest that people wait until we have the real story.

To grasp the full complexity we'd have to be here all night talking about it, which I'm sure no one has the patience for.

Suicide bombers kill themselves and others because they think it's what god wants them to do. They aren't afraid because they KNOW they will be forever rewarded in the afterlife. I think if you looked at the proportion of religious suicide bombers to non religious the conclusion would be staggeringly one sided and this isn't a coincidence.

Most things worth talking about we don't have perfect knowledge about, even our own football club has tonnes of secrets that would change our opinions if we knew. Does that mean we shouldn't talk about it? That's literally just censorship. No one should ever be hesitant about having a mature and logical conversation about important topics.

Yes - Political and religious beliefs IMO should be kept to yourself. I honestly don't believe these forums are the right place for discussion let alone the dinner table with your extended family let alone mates at the pub.....more often than not someone is offended.
