Under rated grand final/final performers.

Just want to use this thread to highlight some of the performances that have been in the past , that haven’t been highlighted enough.

Steve Johnson’s 07 08 2011 grand finals were huge.
07- Norm smith 23disposals 4 goals
08- 34 possesions 1 goal
11- 14 possesions 4 goals (severely injured)

* 32 possesions 4 goals in losing prelim final 2013.

Jimmy Bartels- 16 tackles in the 09 grand final (must be the record)

Brownless grand finals are underrated.

We got smashed in a couple of them and yet he has 12 goals from 4 games and was only the full foward in one of them.

and in his lowest scoring game, the 89 grand final, he was stripped of two probable goals from dodgy umpiring decision and probsbly should of kicked 4 goals that day too.

Rohan is a given.

Blicavs has it harder than a midfield or key forward as almost all
His ‘non GOOD’ games will appear as though he had an absolute howler.

A midfielder who has a bad game for example will still get 18-20 touches and people will look and say ‘oh well he at least broke even or got a bit of ball.’ When you generally don’t get that much ball to begin with, if you have a quiet game it looks like you’ve not even gotten on the field.

That’s exaggerated further if he’s being used in a key post like the ruck or as a key defender: every mistake gets magnified multiple times more than what it does for someone with a more generic role. Not that I think he has been a good finals player, plainly he’s battled.

Been an absolute turnover merchant in finals. His 2020 grand final was his worst game for the club.
