There's discussion in a couple of threads but sounds serious enough for its own. Hughes got struck by a Sean Abbott bouncer and apparently just went straight down. Tea was taken early and they're now landing a helicopter on the SCG to fly him to hospital.

I can't work out why they are choppering him anywhere. St Vincents hospital is about a five minute drive away. The only thing I can think is they are flying him to Royal North Shore which is probably the best hospital in Sydney, but St Vincents would normally be well equipped to handle this sort of thing. Definitely not a good sign if they are thinking they need an even better hopistal?

After the ball cannoned into his helmet, Hughes stood dazed before crashing face-first onto the pitch.

Sounds really serious, really hope he's okay and doesn't have any permanent damage

Yeah I heard that too. Apparently they were attempting to "resuscitate" Hughes on the sidelines. The report was pretty vague, but it sounds pretty bloody serious.

This sounds horrifying. You don't put up a white sheet unless there is something extremely serious going on.

Players and ground staff held up a white sheet to screen him from the spectators who were looking on.
