Bulldogs need 150 points to match the bid on Lual at pick 45

Pick 48 (302 points) easily covers that with 152 points to spare- equivalent to pick 60

CountryLad the bulldogs still have pick 50 and Twomey is suggesting they’ll use 4-5 picks so there’s maybe another pick left for you to consider

Talented forward who has a real instinct for the game. Reads the cues as a forward, presents in the right spot at the right time and has one touch hands. Was at his best kicking four goals for the Sandringham Dragons against the Gippsland Power and Western Jets in the middle part of the year. He missed some matches with a leg injury later in the year before returning to play in the Dragons’ grand final winning team. He averaged 13 disposals and 5.6 marks and kicked 21 goals in 11 matches in the Coates Talent League. Also got a taste of VFL football playing a couple of matches with Frankston. His 6:35 seconds for 2km time trial at the national Draft Combine was a sound effort by a tall forward.

One of the most impressive athletes in this year’s draft, O’Driscoll’s running abilities would have many coaches excited about what he could become. The sole member of the National Combine invitees to post a sub one second five metre sprint in the preseason, O’Driscoll’s runs regularly begin with a sharp burst of speed to break away from his opponents.

Over 20 metres he managed a time of 2.87 seconds in the preseason, one of only four National Combine invitees to clock under 2.9 seconds. These numbers are no surprise when you watch O’Driscoll play. It’s a common occurrence to see him on his own in acres of space, and it’s no wonder how he loses his man so easily with acceleration like that.

His speed is backed up with a large tank for endurance running. A capable two way runner, O’Driscoll does have a tendency to be seen more on attack than defence, an area he could look to improve on. Though, his fitness allows him to have an impact across the entire ground throughout the game and assist in transitioning the ball from defence to attack in the blink of an eye.

Being as quick and nimble as he is, O’Driscoll is very capable of taking on opponents with a sharp turn, or combining with his teammates to force defenders to cover two men where he can turn an inch of space into an opening.

In terms of impact on the game, O’Driscoll regularly finds his name on the scoreboard, having managed 14 goals across 20 WAFL Colts games in his three-year career at the Demons. The finals run that led Perth to the last game of the season brought the best of his goalkicking out, managing four goals in three games off the wing, including the opening two goals of the Grand Final.

As far as room for improvement is concerned, O’Driscoll’s consistency not just week to week, but often quarter to quarter within one game could be bettered. At his best, he is one of the most dangerous looking players on ground, though he can have a tendency to go quiet for extended periods of a game. As a lightly framed winger, his contested game too can leave something to be desired.

Brisbane - Pick 48
Charlie McCormack (KPF - 198cm and 76Kgs)


Brisbane need more fire power up forward and that's what they'll get in McCormack. Potentially 2nd to Walter in this draft in terms of ceiling for KPF . He'll be a slow burn but if done properly, will be an absolute steal this late in the draft.

I'm a huge wrap for players who take the ball at it's highest point, he looks to do that consistently, attacks the ball hard, very good agility for a player of almost 200cm. One touch.

I was going to take Mannagh here and also thought about Woodcock and both Kobe and Bodie Ryan. Having picked up a small forwarf, a KPF and and a HBF already, I went with needs instead....Great thing this draft is REALLY deep for Rucks. What a steal this late!

He'll be the modern equivalent of a Scott Lycett type. Again, great upside like all my picks.

Like all others on this list, Lorenz came into the 2023 season with good wraps. He only played a single NAB League game, but shot onto the radar late last year with an impressive performance for Vic Metro’s Under 17 side, before starring in the Futures showcase on AFL Grand Final day.

Having cut his teeth as a classy midfielder-forward with poise, agility and a sweet left foot, Lorenz was pegged to play off half-back this year. Consistency has eluded him, though he has shown glimpses of potential and will hope for a strong end to the year.

The knock on him will be his lack of genuine pace or line-breaking ability – both of which were found out under the higher pressure and speed of representative football. His usually sound decision making and skill will only further be tested at the top level. A good run of form may turn things around.
