Josh Bennetts (18 disposals, 1 goal, 5 marks)

“If you watched the game, you would’ve seen his legs go ‘bull of the gate’, he is working his backside off, he hits the scoreboard regularly and has great score involvement. He has had seven score involvements, 17 touches and we saw him working up the ground to get five uncontested marks, so his work rate has been really good. He plays his role really well. He’s not the flashy type of player, but what he does, he makes it count. He is progressing really nicely. Like all our draftees, showing the ability to make his decisions quicker in defence will be his next step.”

He had a better game than O'Sullivan imo. Really covered ground from defensive 50 to the forward 50

“Bull of the gate”

There's one bit from the Box Hill weekend video (ostensibly about Bramble and Weddle) where Josh grabs a ball in the back pocket with an opposition player closing, and he just leaves him for dust with agility and pace.

exciting times

16 disposals - 5 marks - 3 tackles - 4 inside 50s - 2 goals

Bennetts has definitely gone under the radar a bit in the VFL so far this year. While he hasn’t necessarily dominated, he’s playing above expectations. If he keeps this form up I think he will be a Category A rookie next year.

He is playing the high half forward role extremely well. He is consistently providing an outlet for our defenders to kick to and he is so clean with the ball at ground level.

VFL player by player RD10: Each AFL-listed Hawk in review

Josh Bennetts (2 goals, 17 disposals, 8 score involvements, 5 marks)

“He played a really solid game at ground level but more importantly, he was able to compete at times in the air for us and get the ball to ground, which is not necessarily his go. What Josh is able to do is keep his feet and keep involved in the contest even when the ball hits the ground. We’re really happy with the trajectory JB’s on and how hard he’s working on his game. He’s just got to keep tipping in and progressing nicely. He’s really reliable for us in the role that he plays.”

Box Hill continued its winning ways taking home a five-point victory against North Melbourne on the weekend, which saw several senior-listed players produce strong performances.

Josh Bennetts (14 disposals, 7 marks)

"Josh could've had a great day. He had seven score involvements, 14 disposals and kicked three points. He understands now the work rate required to play I think at the VFL level, but is moving on the way to understanding AFL work rate consistently. He is starting to come really consistent now. His work rate, high speed running and ability to turn up is really impressive. If he turns those three points into three goals it turns out to be a really solid day."

Box Hill Coach Zane Littlejohn has reviewed the performances of every AFL listed Hawk following their recent win against the Sandringham Zebras.

Josh Bennetts (17 disposals, 1 goal, 6 marks, 4 tackles)

"Josh started the game on fire. He was really lively and we went into the breeze in the first quarter, and he was one of the real players to work his backside off to keep us in the contest early in the game. He had a couple shots early, and hit the scoreboard 1.2 and again, like Bailey he is becoming really consistent and reliable in his role. We love what Josh is able to provide. He helps link the back half to the forward half, he's a really valuable player in that spot."

Box Hill fell to a fourth loss on the season on Saturday, going down to an in-form Footscray by 20 points.

Josh Bennetts (1 goal, 18 disposals, 6 marks)

"Josh's work rate was exceptional. He provides great outlet as a high forward, the next step for Josh's game is now providing the pressure. For a small forward not to have a tackle, that's an area of the game that he would obviously like to improve in. But he had 18 touches, eight score involvements, one goal, which was a nice return. He provides great energy and a link between all three lines, to connect our back half to the forward half."

His picking the game up quickly, improving rapidly across the year. Another pre season and he will have the strength to lay those repeat tackles

Some have told me that Hawthorn like to get players with the same first name but I told them that the club was only Joshing
