Such a great eye for detail with a copious amount of wit. The first two Streets albums are outstanding, not sure which I like better. Love the concept of A Grand Don't Come Free with the relationship story, but Original Pirate is probably a better album on the whole.

Original Pirate Material was such a breath of fresh air when it was released. Got a bit of air play but not what it deserved. I just love how he balances gritty realism with a hopeful optimism. That one posted earlier, The Irony of it All is one of my favourites.

Listened to a bit of The D.O.T. today but wasn't that impressed. Might need a few more listens.

Haven't listened to anything outside of those two albums, I have heard he falls off a bit. I love them already though.

He's an absolute crack up one moment and a real talking poet the next.

Love the one two of Dry Your Eyes / Empty Cans at the end of A Grand... Perfectly, musically and vocally, nails the sadness, desperation and anger in a break up. Then the eventual moving on.

I'll have a look into the rest of his stuff.

I have heard he falls off a bit.

Easy to do when your debut is so good.

There's snippets throughout that are worth a continued listen, which is why I'll give his new stuff some time to sink in.

Enchant - At death's door

I run my desperate trembling hands
Along the floor where you once walked
Fighting tears that come from loss
I brave the rooms where we once talked

You took a part of me
I never can reclaim
Your spirit's in my heart
But you know it's not the same

Straining to beat this blur of tears
Swollen eyes beg for my dead friend
Reminiscing with a photograph
Drives home what was won't be again

I will to guarantee
My reason will prevail
Pain breeds the need for make believe
To soothe a heart that's fail

Like a windup clock left in the rain
Like a candle burns away its light
We all suffer at death's door
As surely as day turns into night

I drop down to my knees
And plead with the sky
Of course it does no good
But I'll give anything a try

Gazing, thinking, standing on a cliff
That guards the blue-green of the sea
I accept the blueprint of the world
That all must pass away that's come to be

You meant so much to me
That's why there's all this pain
So much improved from our exchange
It will never be same

Like a windup clock left in the rain
Like a candle burns away its light
We all suffer at death's door
As surely as day turns into night

Like a windup clock left in the rain
Like a candle burns away its light
We all suffer loss at death's door
We all suffer loss at death's door
As surely day changes into night

Anathema — Untouchable

"Untouchable, Part 1"

And I feel like I knew you before
And I guess that you can hear me through this song

And my love will never die
And my feelings will always shine

And I know that you just want me to belong to someone
And I guess that now I'll just be moving on to someone

But my love will never die
And my feelings will always shine

I'll never betray your trust
I'll never betray your faith
I'll never forsake your heart
I'll never forget your face

There's a feeling that I can't describe

There's a reason that I cannot hide

Because I've never seen a light that's so bright

As the light that shines behind your eyes

I can see
This life
And what you mean to me

And when I dreamed
I dreamed of you
Then I wake
Tell me what could I do?

I had to let you go
To the setting sun
I had to let you go
And find a way back home

"Untouchable, Part 2"

Why I should feel this way?
Why I should feel this way?
Why I should feel the same?

Is something I cannot say
Is something I cannot say
Is something I can't explain

I feel you
Outside at the edge of my life
I see you
Walk by at the edge of my sight

Why I should follow my heart?
Why I should follow my heart?
Why I should fall apart?

Why I should follow my dreams?
Why I should follow my dreams?
Why I should be at peace?

I feel you
Outside at the edge of my life
I see you
Walk by at the edge of my sight

I had to let you go
To the setting sun
I had to let you go
And find a way back home

When I dream all I see is you
When I dream all I see is..

I never seen a light that's so bright

I never seen a light that's so bright

I never seen a light that's so bright

Blinded by the light that's inside
Blinded by the light that's inside
Blinded by the light that's inside you

Dream Theater - Octavarium

[I. Someone Like Him]

I never wanted to become someone like him so secure
Content to live each day just like the last
I was sure I knew that
This was not for me
And I wanted so much more
Far beyond what I could see
So I swore that I'd
Never be someone like him

So many years have passed
Since I proclaimed
My independence
My mission
My aim
And my vision
So secure
Content to live each day like it's my last
It's wonderful to know
That I could be
Something more than what I dreamed
Far beyond what I could see
Still I swear that I'm
Missing out this time

As far as I could tell
There's nothing more I need
But still I ask myself
Could this be everything
Then all I swore
That I would never be was now
So suddenly
The only thing
I wanted
To become
To be someone just like him

[II. Medicate (Awakening)]

A Doctor sitting next to me
He asks me how I feel
Not sure I understand his questioning
He says I've been away a while
But thinks he has cured me
From a state of catatonic sleep

For 30 years
Where have I been
Eyes open
But not getting through to me

Medicate me
Infiltrate me
Side effects appear
As my conscience slips away

Medicate me
Science failing
Conscience fading fast
Can't you stop what's happening

A higher dosage he prescribes
But there's no guarantee
I feel it starting to take over me
I tell him not to be ashamed
There's no one who's to blame
A second shot
A brief awakening

I feel the relapse
Can't break free
Eyes open
But not getting through to me

[III. Full Circle]

Sailing on the seven seize the day tripper diem's ready
Jack the ripper Owens Wilson Phillips and my supper's ready
Lucy in the sky with diamond Dave's not here I come to save the
Day for nightmare cinema show me the way to get back home again

Running forward
Falling back
Spinning round and round
Looking outward
Reaching in
Scream without a sound

Leaning over
Crawling up
Stumbling all around
Losing my place
Only to find I've come full circle

Flying off the handle be careful with
That axe Eugene gene the dance machine
Messiah light my fire gabba gabba
Hey hey my my generation's home again

Running forward
Falling back
Spinning round and round
Looking outward
Reaching in
Scream without a sound

Leaning over
Crawling up
Stumbling all around
Losing my place
Only to find I've come full circle

[IV. Intervals]

[First]
Our deadly sins feel his mortal wrath
Remove all obstacles from our path

[Second]
Asking questions
Search for clues
The answer's been right in front of you

[Third]
Try to break through
Long to connect
Fall on deaf ears and failed muted breath

[Fourth]
Loyalty, trust, faith and desire
Carries love through each darkest fire

[Fifth]
Tortured Insanity
A smothering hell
Try to escape but no avail

[Sixth]
The calls of admirers
Who claim they adore
Drain all your lifeblood while begging for more

[Seventh]
Innocent victims of merciless crimes
Fall prey to some madmen's impulsive designs

[Octave]
Step after step
We try controlling our fate
When we finally start living it has become too late

Trapped inside this Octavarium
Trapped inside this Octavarium
Trapped inside this Octavarium
Trapped inside this Octavarium

[V. Razor's Edge]

We move in circles
Balanced all the while
On a gleaming razor's edge

A perfect sphere
Colliding with our fate
This story ends where it began
