Really not sure? Played one shortened game against North, Looked good but looked like he needed gametime to adapt to the level again after so long out, since than hasnt been sighted despite our biggest worry being entry inside forward 50 and ball use in the forward half? I dont get it ? he must have an injury because he looks like a player who could really be helpful coming into the season proper

On my way home from SEN this afternoon, the Tigers were having a pretty solid hitout so I pulled in had a watch for about halfa.

Can confirm that Knights was out there running around, kicking goals, leading, marking- looked OK so I too was suprised to not see him named.

Also Helbig was running around too, but was blowing hard. Was obvious he has only been fully training for a very short time. He was lining up in the back pocket against Vlastuin and neither one of them take a backward step.

I didn't see Elton out there however I saw him at breakfast on Saturday morning with all the rookies in Northcote!

apparently he only plays knight games

26 in the squad, 4 to miss round one, 2 of them from the rookies.

So knights is realistically fighting with arnot, white, griffiths, vlaustin, and one of the rookies for 3 spots in the senior side, 2 once grimes comes back, and then 1 once foley comes back. The rest of the squad you'd have to think are pretty safe at this stage.

Reckon he's currently behind vlaustin, arnot, probably white, and petterd if he gets the rookie spot.

Could see him maybe sneak in for a spot round 1, him v white I reckon. Then it's gonna be tough who to leave out from there for grimes. Could genuinely see knights playing a fair bit of footy at Coburg this year.

This depth business really takes some getting used to.

There's no way they could justify playing him in round 1 after the pre-season that he's had (half a game). I'm pretty bemused, no idea why he's missing.

If he's not injured and seemingly training and performing well in practice matches, maybe we are just trying to keep him on the down low and unleash him as a surprise selection for round 1. Secret weapon maybe?

Wishful thinking :D

From the Herald Sun:

Chris Knights and Dylan Grimes, who have had injury-interrupted pre-seasons, are expected to get at least a half in Coburg's VFL match against Weribee on Sunday.

Thanks for sharing that Tradespert. Club must be taking a very pre cautious approach to Knights which is good. Rather he have a slow start to the year then get rushed back only to break down and have his season wrote off after a few games.

When he signed, I thought he said he was feeling fit and ready to go? Maybe our medical folk have a different opinion/assessment to the guys at the crows?

He was fit when we picked him up. DT Talk had an interview with Jack Riewoldt and were talking to him about Chris Knights, said he just had a little niggle in his calf, nothing serious.

Good stuff - hope he and Grimes can get some minutes under their belts.

Would say it looks unlikely he will play round 1 if that's the case which potentially opens the door for someone else like White, A. Edwards or even McGuane perhaps.

Have to say it, he's been doing his job since he got reinvented as a forward. Just lacks polish and class, but just about every contest he gets to he either marks or brings the ball to ground crashing packs. I would have him penciled in on his own merit.
