When will Alastair Clarkson get the credit he deserves?

I respect what he has done as a coach with Hawthorn, but as a person he sits firmly in the gutter for me.

Gutless and totally indefensible act king-hitting a bloke and breaking his jaw.

Maybe Clarko can buy the rights to the footage and have it destroyed.

Alastair Clarkson is a revelation to AFL football and especially to the Hawthorn Football Club.

He came in with a plan, and martyred himself to whole football world with his diligence and belief in what he was doing for our club.

All the footy experts ridiculed him, but he never wavered.

What a revelation he has been. The Hawthorn Football Club has turned a fairly poor culture (from 1992-2003) into one of the the hardest and most unified club's in the competition.

They not only have a crack, they show immense discipline and work for each other.

They have no right to be 4 and 2. They are a bunch of kids only at the birth of their development. But they are.

This is what team-work and desire does.

The Senior players are loving their footy, the kids are disciplined, hard and tough.

All our kids including Buddy are talking like leaders years in advance of their age.

When will Alastair Clarkson get some credit?

Even watching On The Couch the other night it was as if Walls and Sheehan were holding back. Couldn't say anything good, so kept it brief.

I love Clarko and I am so grateful he came to our club.

Best young coach since Worsfold. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
What was this idiot talking about. This poster looks really silly 8 years later. How embarrassing...............

Another AFL flag won by a team that has a member of its coaching staff who was influenced by the 'Sheedy' way.

Where's the credit for Hardwick's role?

Clarkson himself continues to praise his coaching staff and admits Hawthorn wouldn't have got to where they are without their knowledge and help.

I don't think A.C is any different to many winning GF coaches. Good job,but nothing that special..

You thought the flag was going to come last year going into the final against North. In the end the Hawks choked like Mama Cass.I'm tipping the same this year,if they can even get that far.

This is an oracle type thread. You haven't had enough credit for predicting someone would choke in the 2008 Grand Final. Well done!

I haven't wasted my time going through this thread, suffice to say what credit,Bradbury'd
the 2008 flag and has been irrelevant since.
Down hill skier riding on Franklin's coat tails.
You certainly know your football

I think we all have enough evidence to say this now: He goes alright.

Now please go the way of the last side to threepeat.

Cheers,

Everyone else.

A simple, 'Gee I got that one horribly wrong' would suit you better...

Nah,I never admit when I'm wrong because I never am

So was it jail or the insane asylum that you've been locked up in for the last 7 years ?

Haven't posted on this thread since 2007

Anyway its really bad when you predict something for one team and it happens to your side instead

I know how you feel. I tipped the Cats to threepeat and I feel kinda stupid that it happened to us instead

Apprentices take on Alastair Clarkson, the master

Gary Lyon, August 7th 2015

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...tair-clarkson-the-master-20150807-gittm2.html

Alastair Clarkson is the Mr Miyagi of the AFL... He has, over the years, shared his passion, philosophies, knowledge, tactics and training methods with a myriad of willing devotees who have, slowly and steadily, emerged and are now standing on their own two feet and holding their own, in the big bad world of AFL coaching… For what makes Clarkson an all-time legend in the world of AFL football, may also make his life very difficult in his and his team's quest for a third consecutive premiership. Could he have taught his young proteges too well?

Damien Hardwick, Adam Simpson, Luke Beveridge and Leon Cameron have all graduated from the Clarkson academy. They have all been an intimate party to Clarkson's meticulous ascension to the very top of the coaching heap. He is lauded for his innovative take on football and his ability to read where the game is at right now, but more importantly, where the game is heading. Only those who have been privy to his inner circle can truly understand the magnitude of his genius. How he is able to ruthlessly demand, and receive, total buy-in from every member of the club, not just the players, but at the same time maintain their intense loyalty and commitment.

His care and compassion among the brown-and-gold faithful is possibly what endears him most to his club. He will defend any member of the Hawthorn family unequivocally and, if need be, viciously. He has famously sent the wives of his coaching staff on expensive end-of-season trips, out of his own pocket, by way of thanks. He has taken less money, instead redirecting those dollars to employ other specialised coaches he thinks will aid the Hawthorn cause. And he has never sits still as a coach. He studies the game forensically and travels the world in an attempt to find an advantage. He has been a revolutionary, changing the way the game has been played, and he has been wildly successful in the process.

Clarkson will be enjoying his coaching graduates' success. To a point. If history is anything to go by, he will be well down the track in fine-tuning the next incarnation of his innovative game plan. Especially now there are at least three teams competing in this year's finals campaign who are marching to the beat of a very familiar tune. And I'd still say Mr Miyagi would teach "Daniel son" a lesson or two if that showdown ever eventuated.

When he stops abusing junior umpires at local footy, punching holes in walls and shoving opposition supporters???

Ahh thats right the family club...haha

Abusing? Lol, he dropped the f bomb when a pimple faced half-wit got all high and mighty, if that's what stands for abuse these days, you'd have a field day in the city any given Sunday

He hit a wall? Oh no!
If only she kept such aggression in check like his peers, and smashed phones and headsets to pieces

And he shoved a heckler, in public, who stalked him 500+ metres, and looked like he was about to be attacked?
He should know better than to protect himself
