Who has been the greatest live act ever?

The best band or act you've ever seen?

The Stones, U2, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Queen, Pink Floyd, The Who, Bowie, Dylan, Kiss, Nirvana or someone else?

This Day in Music have just started a poll to find out. If you fancy voting for who you think should win go to http://www.thisdayinmusic.com

You can vote for any act, just go to 'other' on the list.

Even though they're not really my cup of tea, i'd say U2 would be pretty close to winning that. They're shows/productions have just been huge for a very long time now

Best band ive seen live is The Prodigy, just after Fat of the Land came out. Incredible show. Absolutely tore it up for over 2 hours. Ive seen hundreds of bands since then and nothing has come close to that one show. Whilst their more recent shows ive seen havent lived up to it, that one stands out as the best live show ive seen and maybe ever will see.

For a more old school one, Elton John two years back. Just a great showman, hit after hit after hit.

Would have liked to have seen Pink FLoyd in their heyday, Prince would have been interesting, Nirvana, The Beatles.

I reckon seeing Bob Dylan with the Band (called the Hawks at the time) in 1966 would've been friggen incredible.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds in 2001 or 2002 at Metropolis in Perth. An amazing onslaught of furious passionate rock combined with his beautiful piano ballads. Great concert. Cannot wait to see him in January.

The Dirty Three at Kings Park about the same time and also at the Flt by Night club a couple of years later. Amazing live musicians with Warren Ellis the most freakish, yet charasmatic front man. Jim White is the best drummer in rock music !

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble at the Perth Concert Hall in about 1985. Brilliant guitarist and underated singer. Technically brilliant but full of warmth in his treatment of the audience. A great encore playing a double necked guitar with older brother Jimmy from The Fabulous Thunderbirds.

U2 early 80s - their first tour here. Full of raw rock energy. Saw them again a couple of years later and they were more polished but not as exciting. The live at Slane Castle DVD is the best live video I have ever seen though.

Taj Mahal in about 1985 at the Perth Concert Hall. A solo show with Taj playing piano, guitar, banjo, harmonica and more that lasted for over 3 hours and had the crowd wanting more.

Michael Franti and Spearhead 2005 at Southbound. The single most charismatic and wonderful human being ever on stage. Preachy ? yes. That's what he does while making people dance and love one another. I met him that day and got a big hug too !

PJ Harvey at Belvoir Ampitheatre in 2004? and last year at the Perth Concert Hall. 2 very different concerts with Belvoir a full on in your face rock gig with Polly on fire and the latter gig an intimate time with just her and the brilliant Mick Harvey on guitar.

Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Centre Jazz Orchestra at the Perth Concert Hall about 1998. An old fashioned big band full of amazing musicians in their own right. Worked through the history of jazz music playing music from each decade of the 20th century. Wynton oozed cool while talking or playing the trumpet.

Branford Marsalis at the Perth Concert Hall about 1999. Amazingly cool performance with Jeff "Tain" Watts on drums one of the greatest musicians I have ever witnessed.

The Flaming Lips at the BDO a few years back. Just great fun. They got everybody involved and were so entertaining.

Albert Collins at the Perth Concert Hall twice in the late 80s I think. The Master of the Telecaster ripped into blistering solos without ever becoming flashy or wanky. I chatted to him backstage afterwards and he was incredibly humble. A lovely man.

NEIL YOUNG IN JANUARY NEXT YEAR. CANNOT WAIT FOR THAT ONE !

I wish I had seen Bjork, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead (my wife has seen all of them !!!!!) Tom T Hall, Gram Parsons and The Band.
