So its Bernie's fault a 12 year old kid got alcohol poisoning! I guess we will see a spate of Machette attacks after Jurrahs antics. Just lol.

FWIW i would love to see my kids (dont have any yet) grow up to be exactly the country larrikin Bernie is. Stride dropping, beer skolling legend!

So you're saying AFL players are not role models?

Kids are not impressionable by star athletes?

Kids don't follow what they see on the TV?

I wouldn't expect you to understand as you give the impression to being one if the most selfish people to walk the face of the earth. So why would you show any emthathy to anyone else.

And yeah, let's have more kids like you. Yatla is getting empty.

a deferred suspension basically means no suspension unless he messes up again. The tickets no doubt will be paid for by an additional services agreement.

This is the kind of fishbowl rubbish that can drive a player to the relative obscurity of Syd/Bris or to be a smaller fish in the big pond of Melbourne....and who could blame them.

Of course they are role models. What i am saying is Bernie's behaviour has been perfectly acceptable and in fact he is a good role model. Dosen't deserve to be punished by the club at all. In fact i would prefer my kids to have a little of Bernie's larrikin then not.

Thanks for the rap also! :D

Crap.

We have 90 AFL players in this state, he's one of a few who cannot act in accordance to club expectations. And don't give me this crap about the media holding stories back to protect the other club. That is crap.

If he pulls his head in and doesn't do stupid things, this doesn't become an issue. Drink it at a steady pace with your pants on, like abnormal person.

I assume you wanted Tex suspended last year for drinking a beer in public alex. After all a 12 year old could have seen it. Imagine that

Having a bit of Bernie's larrikin is fine, in fact it's the Aussie way if your not a professional athlete.

Nope, you have missed my point.

Drinking is fine, sculling is not. Preteens and teenager binge drink and is a major issue and they learn it from seeing their idols do it.

That is the issue.

to be clear, the beer skulling was, according to the many witnesses the club did speak to, a piece of fiction. The issue is wholey and soley the pants off stuff.

Triggy said there was no drinking involved. So he is being punished for wearing boxers in a country pub. Still think the club took the right action?

Exactly. :thumbsu:

The club has allowed a virtually anonymous email, sent by liars to a radio station for maximum damage and not even a cc to them, describing a virtual non-event by Bernie to fester in the public arena for 3 days.

Dumb as dog s**t.

They have allowed the sender of the email to achieve his goals which was to maximize bad press for Bernie and the club.

One conversation with Bernie immediately, a rap on the knuckles and the whole thing would have been put to bed without all this media attention!!

If the club is that much of a 'nanny state', hand back your membership?

I love the club too much would never give up my membership. I am thinking about however nicely asking Triggy to resign :D

Please answer the question?

In isolation, yes an overeaction. Collectivally, Not at all. Time, resources and the poor press that is wasted on this issue (that should not have occurred at all) is getting tiresome.

Time for Bernie to worry about playing good footy. Leave the BS antics to people like you.

Whether or not you think Bernie did the wrong thing is a judgement call I guess, and comes down to the individual.

What concerns me is Trigg crapping on about how it affects the brand of the club. Anonymous emails to radio stations do not affect the brand of a football club.

What affects the brand of a football club is a CEO going out of his way to make this an exercise in public relations, desperately trying to reinstate us as the club your grandmother would support, when all it needed was a swift backroom response and a short statement to the media.

Here's a message for Steven - don't EVER speak about our club's brand again, because you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

I guess I'm with Slippery on this one. I'm not too fussed about the punishment. It's a deferred suspension so he'll probably have to sit out of the GWS game or something and buying tickets for people isn't so bad.

However Trigg is just pandering to Rucci and the likes who stir up trouble from nothing. He could have just come out and said that they thought the whole situation was a beat up and there was not a lot in it. Bernie's act didn't involve drinking or acting inappropriately in the particular situation. Still give him the same punishment and just say it's more to do with a string of questionable behavior rather than the carry on we've witnessed.

Anyway what's done is done. It won't amount to much come Round 1. Let's knock off the Eagles get a useless trophy and concentrate on the season proper.

Considering you have no idea what went on alex, and there are varying points of view on what happened, I'd quietly shut the **** up for now.:) You really are like a broken record. The story has barely even made it to Melbourne media ffs, that is how small it is!

1st incident (where he was suspended for a match): 20 minutes late past a curfew.
2nd incident: with some mates at the casino over Christmas and gets caught near some bozo he doesn't know pissing on the slots.
3rd incident: I'm not even going to bother.

Yeah, these are the actions of a new Fev. Heck, even Jurrah has got nothing but support from the AFL and his club, and what he is alleged to have done is actually a serious life issue!

Even Robbo and Gerard Whately on AFL 360 are having a joke about the incident and have no idea why the club has given him a 'deferred suspension', that's how non existent this is alex. And it isn't like they haven't heard about the previous incidents either. They joked that the club is using it as a ticketing promotion for the game.:D

Maybe they should have gone a different tack. Maybe they should announce that Bernie will warm up 20 mins before they run out for the game by running laps of AMMI in only his boxers, I'm sure the female members of the crowd would be all for it! probably boost attendance.

I think they wanted the deferred sentence to hang over Bernie's head, so he might think twice when the next stupid incident comes up,which may be far worse than this.
