Haha blumfield seems a gem. That last posting sounded good till the last part about the 9th spot

I liked Caracella the most

I thought Blumfield could have been the best (still nothing all that special)

and Heffernan will win Best Clubman and the like but will never be more than an Honest Battler.

(can some1 post what we got for Heffer and blumfield please)

I think we also gave Melbourne pick 16 or thereabouts.

We probably miss Caracella the most out of the 3, since we've lost him we've lacked silk across half forward.

The other two were alright, but the loss of neither has hurt us in any great way.

OUT : Caracella
IN: Cupido + McPhee

Not missing him at all

Cara had a bad work ethic going the other way...... Good finisher but a bad starter / ball getter and he was found out when we needed him to step up in 2002 to cover so many depatures/injuries.

Blumfield had to be talked into staying after 99 when the Swans came calling. he had a great 2000 but went downhill from there. Coinciding with his split from Southby and Him shacking up with that Womean from Temptation Island ( Can't remember Her name ) I read an interview with HER a while back and she said that when she first Met Justin, that they "Didn't leave the House for the First 10 days" ... Shows where his proirities Lied at the Time and to a certain extent still lies ...IMO

Heff ..... Was saddest to see him go and would Love to have him back in a minute. Had the best work rate and gave his all. Probably wasn't able to show his full potential due to a Tagging role and Injuries....

So my take is

Heff

Blummers

Daylight

Moonlight

Ohh Look..... Daylight again.....

Caracella

I find it bewildering to say we have not missed Caracella. One of the most glaring deficiencies in our side this year was the lack of goal kicking midfielders. Simply stated, WE DID NOT HAVE ANY. Sheedy specifically said he recruited Murphy to play the Caracella role. Adding Alvey to the mix just proves the point further. The trade that we got for Caracella is irrelevant. He is definitely the one out of the three that we missed the most up until now.

Agreed.

Although if brisbane asked us to take Cara back in eschange for Cupido and Mcphee id tell them to keep dreaming. We were well and truly compensated for the loss that losing Cara caused.

Neither would i. We definitely won the trade. And the additions of Murphy and Alvey will cover the loss of Caracella now anyway.

Yes, we don't have goalkicking midfielders, but in exchange for Cara, we got Cupido, a very good second forward to Lloyd, got us 34 goals this year, pretty good.

39 if i remember :D

Anyway Murphey may not have quite the class or Cara and he hsa even less heart if that can be believed, but Alvey is a champ started last seaon well, Knee reco wored his Arse off to get back into some sembelance of shape, AND he is really Tallented pick 6 and Alvey for Jacobs anyday :D

I think your being harsh on Murphy. Of all his downfalls lack of class is not one of them. He has terrific skills and gets plenty of the pill. We don't need him to be a Jason Johnson or Sean Denham type. He has better footskills than Cara ever did. I see him putting a few lace out on Lloyd's chest next year

Murphy has a reputation as a soft player, but in the last 2 seasons he has averaged 3 tackles per game. That figure rivals the great Chris Heffernan.

It's alright to have soft players if you have guys like JJ, MJ, Soloman and Hird around the packs to win the hard balls and lay it off to someone with silky skills like Cara or Murphy or Alvey.

But we need an enforcer, like what Dean Wallis did, need a primary intimatory bully to go out there and knock someone's head off.

That we do, perhaps Wallis could be runner:D

Seriously I think our hardness should get better once some young guns bulk up.

Guys i think the bombers are gonna miss Jacobs this year the way he marks the ball across the half back line and set up play he was good at that.

Both drive the same Boat ....... But Murph could possibly play off half back....

Never seen Cara chase a man around the Park all day

McPhee, Solomon, Welsh...we have half back flankers coming out of our arse

The best thing about losing Jacobs could be that Solomon goes back to half back where he is much more suited to as opposed to playing in the midfield.

We'll miss DJ in the short term though, but i can't think of many sides that would have had the luxury of having him as the 3rd or 4th best tall defender like we did.
