Hawthorn

Pros
- Relatively quiet and attractive residential streets
- Excellent PT (multiple tram/train lines); easy to get to the 'G in footy season
- Safe/little to no crime
- Great, diverse options for eating out & UberEating in
- Easy access to City Link Freeway in/out of city when necessary
- Lots of good sporting facilities/clubs close by
- Great bike paths (ride to city/work in under 20 minutes)
- Lots of parks for the kids & dog to play in
- Very quiet in summer; most residents have left for their house in Portsea/Point Lonsdale or a Northern Hemisphere ski trip for the month

Cons
- Ridiculously expensive housing/rent
- Infested with lawyers and merchant bankers
- Parents too obsessed with which expensive independent school their kid is going to
- School drop-off/pick-up peak hour Toorak Tractor traffic
- Saturday morning school sport/coffee peak hour traffic
- No real nightlife (my age/close proximity of Richmond and CBD makes this not much of a problem)
- It's Hawthorn and I'm a Geelong supporter

Pitt Meadows:

Pros:
- Up and coming neighbourhood that’s growing and becoming more interesting.
- Pretty much the same distance from work for wife and I.
- Walking distance to everything we need.
- We moved in summer. The last suburb we were in was starting to get a bit older and snobby. Kinda like that the new area is a mix of ages and a bit more middle-class.
- Traffic is also much better.
- We’re nestled between mountains and the Fraser river so it can’t grow too much.
- People are friendly.
- Got a good local brewery and golf courses.
- I have some good friends nearby.
- Weather is much milder compared to the rest of the province/country.
- Houses are somewhat more affordable compared to closer to the city.
- It’s fairly quiet. Not really any crime and it’s a good place to raise our kids.
- Some good farms nearby where we can get local meat, produce, honey etc.
- Quite a few tv shows/movies are filmed around here which can be interesting to check out.

Cons:
- In the suburbs a little bit.
- Only a few good local restaurants.
- The schools in the catchment are ok but not highly rated compared to other suburbs.
- No open fires are allowed (I was given a nice fire pit for our housewarming but can’t use it!)
I lived in Jericho Beach for a while. Other end. Vancouver, bloody top spot.

Yes. They lack my social graces and all round even handed approach to life.

In seriousness thou life in the big city is starting to wear me down for some reason. Would definitely look at a change if work allows.

I loved Melbourne to visit but i could definitely see it wearing one down after awhile.

Employment - Sometimes a lack of jobs.
Lack of jobs in Hobart is not a sometimes thing. I can count on one hand the amount of people who stayed in Hobart after we graduated uni.
