Well what team fron the MDFL has players from Ararat. So it is referring to tatyoon. So who is going to coach the eagles? Brent Searle?

There are a few teams that have Ararat based players in it MAGIC. No one singled out Tatyoon. ;) And no.... Searley wont be coaching. Wasnt even contacted...

So please tell us what the big mail out of the C/L OSB!!!

Orion I was at the Eagles training last week and you are still getting 25 at training without a coach, you must be happy with the commitment of the players?.

This thread is getting overgrown with usless information. To be honest and with no disrespect to Ararat but whats happening with everyone else at this point in time. Are all teams training, any recruits of note?

Anyone heard of these guys?

Lexton and Rokewood the early movers!

Yes Thoroughbred know info about the Lexton guys for sure.

Jarrod Allan- Utility from Waubra, back-flanker type player who is hard at it
Nige Reid- Gun ruckman from Gordon. Will be one of the dominant big men in this league as was easily Gordons best player for the past 3 years. Can play
Lockett- From Learmonth. Dunno much about him. On-ball from what ive heard on is talented but maybe a little inconsistent
Tim Oliver- Ruckman and former B and F player i think. Played at Ballan last year. Will be a huge asset as Lexton lacked talls last year
Lloyd Bennet- Underated player from Ballan. Have played against him and he carved us up twice running from wing/ half back
Mckinnon- From learmonth ruckman dunno much else
Rushton- Waubra winger, dunno if he played in any premierships
Jenkins- From gordon know nothing bout him
Gladman- Forward who has played and coached heaps of footy and even though is certainly in the vetren class now is super fit and i wouls suspect will carve up in the foward line at Lexton if they get some decent supply.

Just my thoughts on the players i know. Hope it helps.

who is coaching out at skipton this year, they seem to be going about there business very quietly out there, can anyone help me out??

Sorry to get back onto the Eagles boys, there's been enough about them already, but just spoke to BJ and found out his dramas. He's keen as mustard and said as soon as his missus is back on track things are right. Perhaps he will step up for the club again. Maybe the club should have stuck with him and overlooked Bell!

Orion, would you give him (Bretherton) another crack if he was interested?

Oliver; B & F ruckman, works hard, will run all day, good grab, ordinary kick, suspect under physical pressure. Asset.
Rushton; HB/Wing/On-ball, was a talented junior who has had rotten luck with injuries over the years. Silky skills. Good pick up.
Bennett; Wing/HF, great hands, long kick, very dangerous running forward - can be exposed defensively. No left side, doesn't handball and can drop his head if things go against him. Good pick up.
Gladman; Forward, great in the air, very smart, was a star but at his age should be watching from the car, still have to respect though. Easy to upset, injury prone and age won't help. Gamble.
Allen; HF/Wing, should have got the other Allen. Just.
Lockett; Wing, confidence player, arrogant when it's running his way, won't respect the opposition. Does have ability so will probably go ok for a month or so and then go missing. Trouble, not worth it.
McKinnon; Ruck, has a go but his feet don't leave the ground and is slow. Worth it as a back up.
Jenkins; Small, will help with numbers and nothing else.
Reid; Ruck, can jump, very VERY suspect to any sort of verbal or physical pressure. Easily intimidated. Not worth it.

Three ruckmen amongst the recruits as well as the ones they already have?? Bit top heavy IMO.

Also a very strong rumour that Natte has lost its senior coach due to him being transferred in his work. I think that his name was Rex Bennett and he worked as a stock agent. Anyone able to confirm or refute?

Interseting thoughts. Yes their are three ruckman their but last year there were no ruckman or many other talls, so probably a good move to get some bigs. Think Reid will prove you wrong and be a top player however time will only tell i guess

We're starting to hear a bit more about how teams are fairing as we get closer to kick off which is good. Surely there would be more talk if one or maybe both of last years grand finalists were coachless 8 weeks out from round one. If true it wouldn't leave them in the greatest position.

Anyone know of any of the top name players in the league moving on, because i think if the LPFL can maintain the top echlon of players and continually pick up more and more each year the level of the league will soon be at CHFL if not higher, comments? My personal assessment is that it is only blight on the league at the moment is the lack of quality talls. When we see a genuine big man that can take 15 marks a game, it will make a huge difference to the pace LPFL footy is played at.

Not sure of any of the top players who are moving out of the league. Not going over old ground on this thread but after playing in both leagues recently it would take a lot more than a few talls to get the standard close to CHFL or beyond. Depth across a number of clubs is required as this is one area that is lacking in most LPFL clubs. The top clubs appear to have 3-4 stars, then 10-12 middle players then it tends to drop of rather quickly. Be great to see teams with better depth which would not only make for more competitive senior footy but also even out the two's and give clubs more ptions when picking sides.

Ryan Head was a quality tall in this league. I would say the CHFL is only stronger for Daylesford, Waurbra and Hepburn. I personally thing the top 3 in this league are as good as any team (if not better) than 4-whatever it goes to in the CHFL.

CL will have no worries filling the void if Hill does leave as a coach. They are a club that understands success and how to achieve it. There would be a few guys in their current playing group that could step up to the top job. You don't play in grand final after grand final and learn nothing.

Natte on the other hand would be concerned because they have worked hard to make the top 3 the last few years and are not in a position like CL are with so many finals hardened players. You would assume that Brent Mortlock will just take the reigns again.

Me? I'm sure he stepped down so BELL could find a high quality (expensive) assistant to join the side. Trying to do the right thing by the club has back-fired. So much for BELL's wonderful ideas for the club!

Ross Waters would be the bigger name leaving. Brad Ross is rumoured to be heading to Brook in the MCDFL thread. Clearances will tell a bit more when they are in but it looks like another good year for the LPFL.
