Am so sad man, spent many happy hours there in my adolescence. Damn you online bookstores man, go to hell. Stop buying online man, it's killing the business, many are losing their jobs. Put the tax cap on for the online man. This is just so sad.

We should slap on extra tax on overseas order. If they exists in aus, then it should be taxed 300%, if not then normal fee apply. Austrlaian money has to stay in australia man, either you don't spend or spend it in australia.

Please stop buying overseas online goods.

Oh well, back to Games Workshop and Minotaur on Elizabeth.

NYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRDDDD.

But seriously, if I have access to a better range at a cheaper price, who are you to tell me what to buy?
Sure propping up the Australian businesses is always good, but last time I checked nothing is made here and until fabrication steps up Australian businesses will suffer with the strong exchange rate and better international prices and service.

Were you also upset when the night watchman was phased out when toilets with plumbing were introduced to Australia??

On the last day it was open in Geelong I went an bought a heap of books for $1 and $2 each. It was awesome.

yeah they also sold all the stuff in the shop like computers/shop fittings etc.

Suffer.

They have uncompetitive pricing and despite the three levels of books, they hardly have anything other than an author's main works. For example, they never have 'Down and out in Paris and London" by George Orwell or "The Town and the City" by Jack Kerouac. Plus, most of the staff are coolsie, hipster chats.

OP is a moron who loves getting spoonfed from Gerry Harvey and Today Tonight.

Did you know, at a price of ~$2500 and above, it is cheaper to buy a plane ticket to the US and buy the product there than to walk in to your local Harvey Norman, Good Guys, Ted's, whatever and purchase it there.

The big managers and CEO's want you to keep buying overpriced products so they can line their pockets of 6+ figure salaries and bonuses. The funny thing is, they will get their paycheck anyway, at the expense of dismissing workers, and then blame it on consumers who purchase elsewhere for cheaper.

Top post...... All true

Put tax on online buying man, so stupid that the current cap is 1000 aud.

Listen Gerry, I'm not paying tax on my imported books because you bastards are working against the strong AUD. What passes for service in your shittruck megastores is barely worth the cost burden you pass to me.

I do feel sorry for the bookstores, particular good ones like Hill of Content. But Gerry and the other whinging rent seekers can get ****ed.

Has anyone been past Chadstone? Any discounts etc. there?

I haven't but if it is anything like the one closest to me (Doncaster) then you're likely out of luck getting anything decent.

Is hill of content in trouble?

Anyway i agree with those who say 'suffer' to borders. They were unnecessarily uncompetitive.

Speaking of uncompetitive has anyone seen that guy on brunswick street who sells second hand (very shit) books on the corner of rose st?

On the way to the bottle shop to buy more wine i didn't need, i stopped and chatted to him and felt the need to buy a book. I was pretty tipsy so my judgement was way way off and chose "The Lost Boy - a foster child's search for the love of a family", the bottom corner had been chewed by some animal (may have been a desert rat mole), anyway i was merry and wanted to help him out so i thought no matter what price it is i'll just give him $5 - thinking that would leave him with atleast a $3 tip. Anyway i handed him the $5 and he said "actually the price is in the cover" -$15- whoa, awkward! He gave it to me for $5 and asked that i return it to him upon reading it.

Here is a link to images of a desert rat mole

Not that I'm aware of; it's owned by Collins so watch the parent company closely. A niche shop like that with a loyal following should tough it out.

Can't really elimiante online buy, have to concede that it is the future, but i am really upset with people earning local money and buying overseas stuff, they all come back to bite you. Aus money must stay in aus, you either don't buy or buy stuffs here. I have never bought stuff online or oversea cos i fundamentally distrust online shopping for one and i don't like aus money flowing overseas. Think of the big picture man.
