One of Riewoldt, Goddard, Dal Santo should go

So you don't rate Carlisle, Crameri, Colyer, Reimers?

I think if the Saints are rebuilding then trading one player who is towards the end for a pick and 2-3 young guys with potential would be a fair deal.
He's 26 and could easily play well into his 30s - when's that been 'towards the end'?

Just a bit of hyperbole :) He's 27, though - 28 before the 2012 season. I'm not talking about Goddard. I'm only interested in Dal.

Gotta get this deal happening.

Would give overs for Dal Santo.

Beautiful fit for EFC.

Would Essendon trade their B&F?

We wont trade any of our key players who are younger than Dal. The best St. Kilda can expect would be our first pick (maybe second one too) and a couple of younger players like the ones I mentioned.

Ryder, Watson, Stanton, Zaha, Melksham, Pears, Hurley, Hocking, Heppell are the only ones I'd say would be off limits. Saints could probably pick a couple from the rest of the team.

Highest player in the B&F this year who might be tradable will probably be... Jetta?

See the reason I asked is because Dal will be our B&F this year and us, like you will not trade our B&F, and I'm sure no other club would either.

I understand the desire for Dal & BJ, but to get quality, which they both are, you'll need to give quality.

We'd be interested in quality youth, but a pick in the 20s in a compromised weak draft isn't of much value.

Rischitelli won the B&F before joining the Suns didn't he?

You don't want to give up Stanton which is an elite with poor disposal to get Dal Santo which is an elite with some of the best disposal in the league.

You're going to have to start throwing in names like Melksham, Hurley and Zaharakis before we'd even start listening.

Read the rules of trading threads on bigfooty. X amount of spuds doesn't = gold.

Dyson, Slattery, Welsh would be 'spuds'.

Carlisle, Reimers, Colyer are decent young players.

Stants disposal is actually pretty good. He just has a habit of getting smothered every few weeks, which sticks in people's minds. His DE is the same as Dal's. Doesn't have the agility of Dal though.

And all we're hearing so far is considerable unders.

when is Dal Santo out of contract?

Why would anyone go nuts trying to get Goddard this year, when in 12 months he is a free agent?

The way I see it, these guys have severely reduced value due to the fact free agency comes in 12 months, or have I missed something?

If BJ goes for free agency it would be to GWS.

Nope. Carlisle is a good young player ie. better than decent. Reimers is a spud and Colyer is ok but very small. Lets face it BF trades only ever give up things u are willing to give up. Doesn't work that way in the real world.

This year, they'd probably only be traded for other players, who would need to be young and (very) good. Picks would only be the 'top up' element of the deal.

I say this because the teams that would want these players (and that the players would want to join) would either be in, or fast approaching, their premiership window, which means their picks this year will be too late to be attractive, especially in a weak draft.

Next year, with a much stronger, uncompromised, draft, picks would have a much greater weight.

I suspect that St Kilda will also want to have one more shot at a flag while they still have some chance, fading though that chance would seem to be. A new coach/plan might get them back in the mix.

Carlisle would be way, way, way more valuable than the other two.
Colyer is Shane Edwards but with balls & confidence; he gets the ball and runs and takes his shot, instead of getting the ball and running and getting scared and stopping.

Reimers, is, well... a nice kick.

Of the 3 would like Goddard at the Pies.

But to get a player of his quality you have to give up something of similar quality...

Not too sure I would be willing to part with what St Kilda would be looking at on our list

Possible Free-Agent (when it comes into place)?
Do u have a salary cap? :p
