the problem was Palmer was being played out of position by our dumbshit coach to make a point.

When we put Palmer in the middle last year he looked good, he is a good midfielder who had 1 bad season after a knee recon and one bad season being played out position.

Hes in my DT thats for sure :)

OMG, we absolutely, totally agree on something. If anything is going to make Harvey look like he was out of his depth, it'll be Palmer's performance this season.

I need a bath.

Why keep doing it Dr Ralph? Why??

Of course Palmer will look better in a weaker side, it won't in any way relate to his performance at Fremantle.

Palmer on ball didn't fit with our game plan, which was somewhat based around being a good user of the ball. Sure, he would have performed better in the middle for us, but he simply isn't the calibre of player that you design/adjust your game plan around.

Palmer will fit in great in any team that needs a player who can win a lot of the ball, and hit the target half of the time, but once the quality and depth of that team improves, he's going to become more and more obselete.

Palmer still wouldn't get a game with us under Lyon, no matter what position he was played.

I think pretty much all of their players are going to look fairly ordinary due to the lack of dominance anywhere in the side. For Palmer, or any of their players, to look decent will be a good achievement. But the main reason he will look better is because he will play midfield.

At St Kilda Lyon was almost a specialist at getting the most out of players within their limitations. Players with ordinary disposal had that minimised in their repertoire. Palmer could easily be in the mix if he was still with us, and last year we badly needed a player in and under dishing out the ball to better users of the pill. It is gobsmackingly ordinary that we elected to use Pavlich instead. Palmer in-form in the midfield and Broughton in the backline makes us a better side.

Palmer would most likely get a game under Ross Lyon. His kicking is poor but he handballs 75% of the time anyway. Not saying that I would still want him at the club.

Congratulations BA!

At least it won't be during a game... I'll convince my GF when it's time for us to conceive, to plan it for the offseason. Just imagine Freo in a final and your stuck in a hospital ward.

Son was born on the day we beat Sydney in Sydney in 2010. Got to the hospital midnight on Friday, nothing happened all day so we watched the game in the delivery room. Then the little tyke was born at 5.30 in the arvo. Awesome Day!

Why was Fyfe in the middle? Even Pavlich had low disposal efficiency while in the middle.

Palmer wasn't played in the middle because Harvey knew he was going.

Exactly. Palmer got one decent go in the guts last year against Port Adelaide and he was brilliant. I wish him the best and reckon he will have a great year.
I hope GWS are forever s**t though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but besides being a better kick in space, Pavlich offered nothing better than what Palmer would in the midfield. We essentially sacrificed one of the best forwards in the game, and played a rising star winner out of position, for very little improvement in our midfield.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that essentialy what Clay was saying.

Palmer is going in very hard and is everywhere for the Giants, top game so far. Still comfortable with getting Crozier for him but i wish him the best
