Round 8 trades

Ended up going Thomas to Stokes and Malceski (solid unique pick right there, except for his abysmal 49) to Hanley. Next week will hopefully be Whitfield to Mitchell and Pittard to Thurlow, barring the inevitable injury/suspension. Also get Shaw back next week, hopefully Viney too. Leaves me weak this week but hopefully I'll crack 2000 and hold my ranking, next week's looking better :thumbsu:
Nice. I ended up going Wines --> Priddis and Hartlett --> Birchall.
No downgrades for me this week. Couldn't say no to Priddis' price. Will miss out on Lonergan though..oh well

I need to take Griffin out @ 400k. Kreuzer is 357k but I'm not sure on him, had a good couple of games at the start of the year. Or is it worth paying the extra 80k on McEvoy or Goldy?
Can't swing cox from the forwards and wait til next week to get Kruezer? Kruezer has a be of 162 and is predicted to be $40k cheaper next week.
If not, Goldstein. Goldstein and McElvoy will average the same and Goldstein is cheaper by $30k

my trades at this stage:

Wines -> Hodge
Burgoyne (Staker to backline) -> Breust

Cant decide on Breust or Motlop though
Wow, 8 posts in 6 years. I feel honoured to have read this.

You obviously love your hawks. As mentioned above, you should be looking at Franklin ahead of Breust.

Do you have franklin? If not, he's only $17k more than Breust and is a proven fwd premo

yeah had Franklin since round 1.. he'll come good. Breust's BE is lower than Motlops and he is playing GWS, GC and Demons in the next 3 weeks.

I would recommend neither and get Matthew Wright. Had a great year last year and his poor avg this year is only down to a vest appearance as well as one score of 49. Everything else has been 80+ and scoring over 100 twice already. Priced at 369k, I would say he's a steal for what you are looking for. Will go up in price, and as Adelaide start to kick in so will he.

Playing a lot of tagging roles is a concern.

Agreed. Breust and Motlop can go missing for large periods of the game. Wright is bargain. Other fwds in your price bracket are Roughhead and Lewis

Similarly to S.Selwood, Jack and K.Cornes, he makes his opponent pay and gets forward imo. Think he's gone under the radar this year as a good stepping stone. Remember a lot of people selecting him before Round 1? After the 26 goes out of his 3 game cycle he will jump up in price and be an upgrade option to a premo.

Gone with Hartlett-->Hodge & Wines --> Watson

Chosen Hodge over Priddis.

Damn those 50/50 decisions it either comes off or you get burnt. I don't think I've seen a scenario recently for me where both choices would of worked out fine.

Dilemma: should I upgrade Wines to Priddis, Danger, or Watson? (can't afford Scooter)

my current MF: Swan Ablett Pendles JPK McVeigh Hodge O'mera Wines

Priddis: cheapest, and has a wk12 bye, but I feel he's just a stepping stone in getting a uber premo
Danger: wk13 bye, also would he maintain his 95+ average?
Watson: his wk13 bye doesnt go well with my other MF players

any recommendation would be much appreciated!!

Who's your other midfielders?

Id go Priddis.. ill be picking up Watson in a week or so as his breakeven is fairly high this week. Do you have Dustin Martin?

no Dusty, but I somehow don't really trust that he'd continue his great form.

I'd go Priddis too if I could pick up Watson next week. but as it stands I can't have both, since I plan to do Terlich > Turslow and McCaffer > Buddy next week. Therefore I have to choose between Priddis or Watson :/

and btw I'm a SHE

I want to go Priddis but I'm worried I'd have too many west coast players then... Cox, Selwood, kennedy, and now Priddis... What's the chances of all 4 scoring high week in week out? So I think I'll go with s Mitchell for his run. Saying that though saving 100k by getting Priddis over mitchell to upgrade macaffer next week sounds delicious...

How likely is Ibbotson to keep up his scoring run? I see he's been named on the HBF again. For the Freo supporters here, does this look to be a permanent role for him? Does he have solid JS?

I think it depends on whether you plan on priddis being in your team for the rest of the year, or whether he is going to be a stepping stone to an ultra-premo. Personally i would go Watson as i think he will be in the top 6-10 midfielders come the end of the year whereas while i think priddis will give you consistent scores, i don't think he will be in the top 10 averaging midfielders come the end of the year.

I was concern about hodge rested but the round 11 bye is not far away I think he will play all 3

Yeah I think you're right about the next three weeks. I was also thinking about a rest in july or august, but playing GC/GWS/melbourne before the bye probably reduces the chance of resting in july/august. Still some chance of it happening though.

I am torn with the Hodge and Priddis dilemma. Both have strong cases to come into my team.

Hodge - Has been a super premium in the past (albeit in our defenses) and this year has put up some big scores with a few low ones in between. A 120 against Sydney last week was a great score from a side that traditionally makes it hard to score against in DT. Has a Round 11 bye which really suits my midfield. Only concerns are being rested in the next 3 weeks as a result of the Hawks easy run before the bye. Hard to say what the Hawks will do but only making the one change this week is a decent sign.

Priddis - Very consistent DTer in past years and at his price presents awesome value. As far as I am concerned will not be a keeper in your midfield, but can be a great stepping stone to a big premium. Has averaged around 100 if you take the 4 out of the equation and I have no concern with him keeping this up. Only concern for me is his round 12 bye which I already have 2 premiums in my midfield that are the same.

Overall Result for me - Hodge. Round 11 bye is the winner plus has the higher ceiling and should hopefully average more. Prepared to take the risk with him missing a game.

Midfield now looks like - Swan (Round 13), Ablett (Round 13), S.Selwood (Round 12), J.P.Kennedy (Round 12), Hodge (Round 11), Moloney (Round 11), O'Meara (Round 13), Jones (Round 11), Crouch (Round 13), Lonergan (Round 13).

Moloney will most likely become Watson next week. Will be looking to bring in a DP link as well before the byes
