Didn't watch the game but Cripps game looks good on paper,anyone get a chance to watch the game?

I would say it's rarer for a player to jump straight from colts to league without playing a few ressies games in between.
Going through the Swans players, below is a list of players who have moved between teams during a season...

Colts -> League
Garlett
Howard
Newman

Colts -> Reserves
Broad

Colts -> Reserves -> League
Boekhorst

Interestingly Broad and Boekhorst's games in reserves came in the final rounds (Boekhorst having a league appearance in round 24).

So I suspect the reason they were promoted was to give them a taste at the end of the year or for injury depth. The Colts and Reserves teams were well out of finals contention.

So at Swans, it's more normal to jump from Colts to League unless it's in the last half dozen rounds where a variety of other factors come into play.

With regard to your mate, it'd have to be a good thing. Otherwise he'd remain in Colts. Perhaps they feel the gradual step up is more suitable. Perhaps they want to test him against men before giving him a gig in the League side.

Interesting. I'd say it can only be a positive thing. He was playing against men up North and dominating as a CHF at 16/17, so Claremont asked him to move down to Perth and he's been playing Colts since round 1 this season. They shifted him back to defence and by all reports doing well.

So he's Rowan Powell. Can play.

A little undersized for his role, a touch one dimensional, but a sound defender, strong overhead and has pretty good disposal. Could do with a little more agility and pace if he doesn't grow some more.

Claremonts underage depth is that awesome that in spite of losing players to the U18's they've managed to to easily shift players up to ressies.

Was at the derby yesterday.

Cripps was handy actually, particularly his clearance work. It was unexpected but he spent a bit of time in the centre square and did well. His hard running lead to his 3rd goal which sealed the match. IN saying that the West Perth midfield dominated for a large portion of the match until the injury toll mounted and they couldn't run. Twas on of black or Nelson who was hobbling about injured but had to play as they had no one left.

Lycett was average (not poor, not great)- dropped a couple of marks. One of his goals was him just standing in the goal square and getting a handball over the top.

Wilson was quite solid, lovely kick and seems quite strong through the core. Was n't overly noticeable in terms of dash, but does have compsure (and strength) in traffic.

Morton swanned about until he got injured. He really doesn't like playing next to an opponent and i'd say his possessions prior to getting injured were just dropping back into defence and getting the easy kick.

Lastly, I can really see why we recruited JON. He looks absolutely superb. Walked past me and he is an impressive specimen. A lot taller and bigger than I thought. He moves beautifully, found plenty of the pill. only problem (and it is a biggie) he put most of his kicks onto the chest of the opposition.

No wonder we recruited him, he would fit in perfectly.

Fantastic win by the Mighty Royals.

And to Raponi, thanks for the ammunition. You should have learnt from the Swans effort.

watching under 18 highlights and ash smith looks good in the midfield. worked well with his huge kick. why isnt he playing midfield? he's quick and we need pace in the midfield.

Doesn't have the tank for it, never bothers to use his pace when he's playing and his kicking can be very suspect.

Can someone put together a Tom swift highlights package? I seriously miss watching him play. He gave us some nice run in the midfield, the only downside being his kicking. I remember his debut with his knee bandaged, thinking who is this guy?

Yeah i agree.. maybe over the preseason get him to slim down slightly and work on his running and tank and get him to play more Wing than HBF.

Not many with East Perth and Perth having the bye along with Swans - so that means a week off for Morton, Lycett, Smith, McInnes, Tunbridge, Colledge and Bennell.

Nicoski playing for Subi against Souths and Carter. Still no Sinclair for Subi :(

Hutchings and McGinnity should be released to play for West Perth and Claremont, respectively.

Dalziell playing for East Freo against Peel, but Dick out with a hammy injury :mad:

Bit disappointing that only 4 players get to try and prove themselves this week. Do you know how bad Dicks hammy is?
