ROUND 6
The previous three weeks has seen the Roys lose games by an average of 10 goals. Tie that in with a tendency to go to sleep for long periods of time during a game and that was leading to a trip to the wide open spaces of Waverley Park becoming a horrible venture.
Fortunately a deluge drenched the ground and the muddy conditions promised to give us a better chance of reversing our bad luck.
It was slow going early with both teams only having scored a point 9 minutes in to the game, fitzroybulldog and 3KZ is Football were getting a lot of the ball but the Hawks were clawing ahead until a goal to Ed_Gein put us in front. Two Hawks goals saw our lead disappear and Fred kicked a late goal to keep us within 5 points at the first break.
Fred was shouldering the scoring load as his second goal, to open the second quarter, made his current contribution 13 points of our 20. The Hawks scored a goal to take back the lead, but points to pantskyle and Dicky Fitzwell – before Freds 3rd goal – saw us back in front. Royboy 2 added a goal and a point and only a late goal to the Hawks prevented us from having a bigger lead than the 4 points we took in to the rooms.
We kept adding to the scoreboard in the 3rd as a goal to Freakie, following a Cheetah behind had us 11 points up. The Hawks matched that to peg it back to 4 and after trading goals the Hawks pulled out to a 4 point lead. Fitzroybulldog kicked a goal to put the Roys back in front, but another late goal to the Hawks swung the difference back their way as we trailed by 3 going in to the last.
The heavy conditions were getting to both teams and in the first 15 minutes of the final term the Roys could only manage a behind while only conceding one goal. Trailing by 8 points the Roys had a win within their sights. At the 18 minute mark the Hawks goaled to make it tougher and all but sealed the game 3 minutes later with another. The Roys behind was their only score in the 4th quarter as we fell to our 4th straight loss. ROYS 8.8.56 Hawks 13.4.82

Dis is fantastic. You could throw a blanket over the leaders at the moment, but you Roys have some funny names and people say Schwarzenegger sounds funny.

We take a break from the Broken medal count to award the flea29 medal. This award is given to the biggest improver from the previous season and was named after flea29 who was the most improved between seasons 13 and 14.
The past two winners of this award (flea29 and Maroon Goon) made no contribution to the club this season, unfortunately for them there isn’t a least improved award.

We hope the fate of the past two winners doesn’t befall Cheetah who has continued on his strong form last season to be one of the Roys core contributors on and off field each week. Well done brother Cheetah ,looking forward to seeing more of the same next season !

ROUND 7
Despite not winning a game at home this season a home fixture against the Bombers was a good chance of turning around a 4 game losing streak.
Freakie opened the scoring for the Roys with a point, but it looked like the Roys were carrying over their flat form from last weeks final quarter as the Bombers pulled out to a two goal lead. The crowd was firing up the Roys and some great work from Broken and 3KZ is Football plus goals to Cheetah and Fred had us up by 2 points at the end of the first quarter.
The Roys tendency to nap in games reared it’s head again during the 2nd quarter as the Bombers quickly took the lead and raced out to a 3 goal lead. Goals to Reardo and Broken were countered by the Bombers and the Roys found themselves in the all too familiar position of trailing their opponents, taking an 18 point deficit in to the half time break.
Kooka and Cheetah did all the Roys scoring for most of the 3rd quarter combining to score 4 goals 3 between them, but the Bombers were inching ahead. Even with a late Dicky Fitzwell goal the Roys were 21 points behind their opponents.
Cheetah continued attacking and scored a couple of goals to have the Roys within 8 points, but too few other players were contributing and the Bombers drew away again as the Roys scoring stopped and eventually handed the Roys another loss. ROYS 11.8.74 Bombers 16.5.101

ROUND 8
Thank god for expansion teams. Only the ineptitude of the startup Royals was keeping us from being in last place on the back of our 5 game losing streak. Unfortunately we were coming in to the unique confines of the House of Gumby whose rubbery surface is always hard to play regardless of your form.
Due to that the coaching staff scouted the Gumbies heavily and 20 seconds in to the game swung their first change. It seemed to work as following a Gumbies behind Fatty Lumpkin and Fitzroybulldog exploded with 5 goals between them before the Gumbies scored next (the coaching staff must have also picked up a few hints about scoring runs from our poor recent games). Goals to Ed_Gein and Dicky Fitzwell gave the Roys a solid 39 point lead after one quarter.
It appeared as though the Roys misjudged the weather due to the flags at the House of Gumby not moving and the Gumbies took advantage of the strong wind that the Roys enjoyed in the first quarter bring the gap down to 4 points by the main break.
The Gumbies continued scoring and added 2 goals after the break. Icefreak slotted a behind but the Gumbies added 2 goals to stretch the margin out to 20 points and if recent form was anything to go by the floodgates were about to open. But Dicky rose, Cheetah zoomed and icefreak kept his cool as they all slotted goals and we only trailed by 2 with one quarter to go.
The Gumbies opened with a goal, which Fred got back. Another Gumbies goal was matched by 2 behinds and goals to FattyLumpkin and Fred and halfway through the final period we led by a goal. Another behind then a pantskyle goal saw the lead out to 14 with 13 minutes gone. Then the Roys defensive woes stepped up as the Gumbies rattled home 2 goals 2 which tied the game. With 22 minutes gone Roylion slotted home a major which looked to be the match winner! The Gumbies scrambled and scored a behind, from the kick-in we turned it over and the Gumbies made us pay as they took a one point lead. The Roys got possession and were moving towards goal as time ran out, only to see the field swarmed by the crowd as they invaded the playing surface – causing the game to be held up for 2 ½ hours. Once the antagonist (a man dressed as a Logger ) was caught, play resumed only for the Roys to fall short on the siren. ROYS 17.13.115 Gumbies 18.8.116

ROUND 9
Six weeks ago we were in first place. Coming in to this game, we were now in last place, but a matchup against the Dragons – who had only won one more game than us – had the fans feeling good about our chances. But most of the pre match thunder revolved around pantskyle and icefreak coming up against their black sheep of a brother.
Like the pre-game banter the start of this game was wild and willing, Broken was laying the tackles, Fred was bowling them over up forward and fitzroybulldog was crashing packs. The two teams were slugging it out on the scoreboard but our pressure gave us a 9 point lead after a brutal first quarter.
The home crowd were smelling blood as Fred and Reardo slotted goals 5 minutes in to the 2nd quarter, but then nap time arrived as the Dragons put through an unanswered 3 goals 2 to cut our lead to less than a goal. Freakie dug deep and set off small Roys scoring run, which despite a Dragon rally, was enough to give us a 2 point lead as the boys headed off to their halftime spray.
The Dragons jumped out to the lead to start the 2nd half, but the Roys fought back. Goals to Mobbenfuhrer, Cheetah and Reardo helped the Roys to a 14 point lead. The Dragons scored a goal to come back but pantskyle and Made4September slotted majors and the Roys held a 20 point lead with one quarter to go.
After working hard for three quarters the Roys downed some much needed drinks to regain their energy.
With the Dragons cutting the lead by 9 points – the Roys didn’t trouble the scoreboard during that 10 minute stretch – the Roys training staff were checking if the drinks didn’t contain Bex. The Roys slumber continued as 15 minutes in to the last term the Dragons had taken the lead while the Roys were yet to score.
Taking a cue from last weeks ground invasion the Roys throng figured if it worked for the home team last week it would work for the home team this week and the Chud filled crowd swarmed on to the BJO. After a 28 minute delay play resumed and some brilliant work from the Roys ended up with FattyLumpkin narrowly slotting home a major to put the Roys ahead by 5 points with 22 minutes gone.
In a tension filled finish icefreak and Kooka kept the Dragons at bay long enough for the Roys to run out winners – finally. ROYS 14.4.88 Dragons 12.11.83

Pantskyle buzzes around at the top of the table, but Reardo, 3KZ and Dicky aren’t far behind, but what's this talk about a poor results, Stop Whining! You Roys are soft. You lack discipline!

We will take another break in the count to award the next medal. This time it’s for the most consistent player of the season : the Royboy2 medal which is named after royboy2 who was named most consistent in Season 14.
This season saw consistent contributions from many players, old and new, but this seasons recipient is Freakie – Not only was Freakie a solid contributor in the match thread each week, but he was also consistent across the team thread and polled well in the Good Ole Roys award. Congratulations Freakie on your efforts this season and upon winning the Royboy2 medal.

ROUND 10
Bouyed by our win last week and a repeat matchup against the Royals who we beat in the first round the Roys supporters, especially those in gorilla suits, were expecting their boys to bring home another win.
The Roys stormed out of the middle from the opening bounce and dobbed a goal. The Royals answered with 2 and with a Fatty Lumpkin behind the crowd was sensing the Roys weren’t going to go down without a fight and were showing their boys a lot of love.
11 minutes later the fans had filed for divorce as the Roys tendency to go missing raised it’s head in an ugly way. The Royals had piled on 7 goals 4 behinds to nothing as they bolted to a 51 point lead. Goals to Fatty Lumpkin and Mobbenfuhrer made little difference as the 51 point deficit remained at the first orange break as we had conceded 11 goals in the first quarter.
We got to within 43 points in the 2nd quarter but that ended up being 61 points at the big break.
More of the same in the second, we gained some ground to trail by 45 at the final break. By this time the Royals had taken their foot off the pedal to hand us an incredibly embarrassing loss to the new expansion team. ROYS 16.5.101 Royals 22.11.143

ROUND 11
Even with the embarrassment of last week a return fixture against the Furies saw spirits high. Although that feeling could have been attributed to the new midget bartenders at the BJO.
The Roys started well pushing the ball in to the forward line early and often but could only yield 2 behinds. Then, in what has become the title of the Roys Season 16 highlights video, the Roys fell asleep. The Roys scoring stopped while the Furies added 5 goals 6 to the scoreboard. Only late goals from Mobbenfuhrer and Reardo kept the deficit to 22 points at the quarter time break.
Boos reigned down at the BJO as the Furies went on another unanswered scoring run to stretch their lead to 42 points. A purple patch from the Roys saw them score an unanswered 9 points before the Furies resumed transmission to take a 47 point lead in to the changerooms.
The Roys emerged from the tunnel to find at least half of the crowd had left and they kept leaving as they found that more palatable than the 3rd quarter the Roys put forward. It was the Roys worst quarter for the season, not scoring a solitary point while the Furies extended their lead to 94 points.

ROUND 12
It had been many seasons since the Roys had to travel to Alberton and not much had changed. It was still the cesspit of the SFA.
Post match excuses for our slow start revolved around the lack of hygiene and bodily fluid showers the crowd proudly paraded, but the fact was the Swamprats had jumped out to a 13 point lead before the Roys knew it. Halfway through the quarter the Roys trailed by 3 goals, but we fought back to only trail by 9 at the end of the first.
The second quarter was similar to the first. An early Roys scored led to the Swamprats taking control for the first half of the quarter, extending the lead to 29 points. Then the Roys fought back with a scoring rush to trail by 14 points at the end of the second.
The third quarter mirrored the second. The Roys scored early – taking a 4 point lead! – before the Swamprats took control for the first half going out to a 20 point lead before we pegged it back to 12 points with one quarter to go.
The fourth quarter started like the first. The Swamprats jumped out to a 24 point lead, Roylion scored a goal to make it 18 points. The lead went out to 24 points before scores to Broken and Fatty Lumpkin saw the gap down to 17. The Swamprats lead again got out to 24 points before the Swamprats banged on some more scores, that was slightly interrupted by a goal to 3KZ is Football, then the banging on of more scores continued. ROYS 16.10.106 Swamprats 24.7.151
Following the match coach Percy Jenkins quit the club citing the shitness of the players as the main reason for his resignation. Honey Badger Wayne Jorgensen was named interim coach.

That was an ugly stretch of results. Speaking of ugly have I told you about the time I slept with my ugly housekeeper. Maria was away and I was feeling hot and bothered, as I hadn’t been with a woman. The housekeeper walked in and she knew I was hot and she said you’re not sending me to the cooler and one thing led to another. Then I told her to get her arse to Mars. Well of course Maria found out because the housekeeper had a child that looked like me and she was furious and said consider dis a divorce.

Enough about me and more about the next award. The Itsmyshow award given to the Roys most prolific (or spammiest) poster for the season. Named after Itsmyshow who, as a Roy, cut a spammy swathe through the league in Season 13.
This seasons award goes to the poster who contributed 26% of the Roys total match thread posts and had posted almost 200 more posts than the 2nd best contributor. That person, of course, is pantskyle taking out his second successive Itsmyshow award.

We’re back again. With 6 rounds to go will 3KZ is Football keep his lead? Can pantskyle stay in touch at the top? Will Reardo or Dicky Fitzwell make a charge? Is it too late for Freakie to go back to back? Or will someone else be a bolter?

ROUND 13
It’s well known that teams life when they’ve just changed coaches. Were the visiting Wonders worried that the Roys had just done such a thing? Probably not, but the Roys did have extra incentive as Freakie and Carn the Roys were playing their 100th games.
The rabid teachings of coach Jorgensen paid immediate dividends as after a minute the Roys shot out to a 7 point lead and were looking good. 11 minutes later they were looking their usual selves as they fell in to a 24 point hole. Pantskyle, icefreak and Cheetah scored goals and the quarter time deficit was only 13 points.
The Roys conceded two early goals in the 2nd quarter, but a run of goals to pantskyle, Fred and Wonaeamirri33 had the Roys within 7 points. Then the narcolepsy kicked in again as the Roys slowed down and watched the gap stretch out to 25 points.
The halftime show was pretty good where a local art group performed put on a display where a young chap was dressed in leather and a grey wig proclaiming that he represents the Roys in Season 16. He put on a helmet, jumped on a motorbike and blazed across the BJO hitting a ramp and jumping over a swimming pool containing a man eating shark!
The symbolism of the halftime show was lost on the players as they hit the second half with purpose. Cheetah goaled, Fatty Lumpkin kicked a behind then a major, Broken kicked a pair of behinds and Dicky Fitzwell also scored one point and the Roys had were now 9 points down. The Wonders pushed that to 17, but the Roys were fighting Fred goaled and the Wonders responded with a point. 2 behinds and goals to Fatty Lumpkin and Cheetah gave the Roys a 2 point lead! A Wonders goal was quickly answered by Dicky Fitzwell to retain that 2 point margin going in to the last quarter.
The fourth quarter saw no let up in the Roys fight with an early goal to Fred pushed us further ahead. The Wonders kicked a pair to snatch back the lead but Mobbenfuhrer got one back to put us back in front. The Wonders kicked another pair of goals before Fred slotted one, but they answered with two more goals to extend their lead to 14 points. Reardo was sick of the Wonders kicking pairs of goals, so he decided to do just that for the Roys. His two goals had the Roys within 2 points with 18 minutes gone in the last quarter. The Wonders kicked their 7th and 8th goals of the term to take out the snuff out the Roys challenge and take home the points. ROYS 19.11.125 Wonders 22.8.140

ROUND 14
After taking it up to the ladder leaders last week the Roys were confident of matching it with the 2nd placed Demons in this encounter. After failing to get up for the milestone boys last week the Roys were going to put in even harder this week for pseudo pseudo captain Reardo (Sorry for the pseudo echo there)
The Roys scored first blood through a goal to Mobbenfuhrer and were working hard, but not as hard as their opponents who were gradually building a lead which peaked at 19 points in the first quarter. Slax and PTizzle had busted their arses through that quarter and some rewards started to come forth as a goal to Broken and a minor to Fred put that gap back to 12 points.
Fred improved on his last scoring shot moments in to the second quarter and the gap was down to 6 before the Demons again inched towards that 19 point mark. Fred kicked another goal and he slotted his third, following a stretch of 6 behinds (2 to the Roys), and the Roys were 9 points in arrears. Two late Roys behinds cut that margin before the big break.
The halftime Stem Cell Chudshakes worked immediately as goals to fitzroybulldog and Mobbenfuhrer opened the second halfs scoring and the Roys now had a 5 point lead. The Demons again eked away to take a slender lead in to the last coaches address of the game.
After 3 quarters the Roys were finding themselves in a foreign position of being in a contest.
A super quick Demons goal looked to destroy the Roys confidence, but wily vet Mobbenfuhrer goaled before the Demons again stretched out to a 19 point lead. Fred kicked his 4th, then a Dicky Fitzwell goal came between two Roys points and Mobbenfuhrers fourth goal saw the Roys snatch the lead with just under 18 minutes gone in the game. Both teams fought for possession but neither could get it past their half forward line before a dodgy free kick gifted the Demons a goal. From the bounce the Demons took it forward and scored a behind to take a 6 point lead. From the kick in the Roys were surging forward but piss farted around with it too much in the middle which was where they had the ball when the final siren rang. ROYS 12.9.81 Demons 13.9.87

ROUND 15
By a quirk of the draw we had played the 1st placed team 2 weeks ago, the 2nd placed team last week and this week we faced the 3rd placed team. Given our new found ability to stay in contests the past two weeks the Roys were feeling confident facing the 3rd placed Hawks on home turf.
Both teams opened the game with hard hits and cheap shots, but the umpires either enjoyed or ignored the brutality as the game devolved in to a rolling maul. The Hawks scored the opening goal and Mobbenfuhrer equalized with a goal not long after. But that was the sum total of scoring for the first 15 minutes as teams couldn’t hit the scoreboard. The Roys found a way with 2 behinds and a Fred goal and took a rare lead in to the orange break.
The Roys added to their lead with an inaccurate FattyLumpkin snap on goal. The Hawks responded with 2 goals and the lead slipped away from the home team. 3KZ scored, but missed, but FattyLumpkin made up for his earlier miss and the Roys had the lead again. Mobbenfuhrer added his second and the Roys were 10 points up. The Hawks pegged that lead back by one, but 3KZ negated that and the Roys led by 10 at halftime.
The Roys had their tails up and the crowd were starting to sense an upset when icefreak kicked truly to add to the lead. The Hawks fired back with a goal, FattyLumpkin kicked another behind before the Hawks added two more goals to take the lead. Fred handed back the lead to the Roys before the Hawks scored another goal to lead again. This run of Hawks goals had the Roys faithful expecting another Roys 3rd quarter fade out. As expected a scoring run began, but unexpectedly it was in the Roys favour. Goals to Broken, pantskyle and Ed_Gein gave the Roys a 17 point lead! The Hawks cut it by 7 before two late Roys behinds made it a two goal game.
The Hawks scored the first goal of the last quarter and the game degenerated in to the defensive slog of the first quarter with neither team adding to their totals for 12 ½ minutes. Closing in on the 17 minute mark icefreak had a shot to score for the Roys and it was a goal. The Roys led by 12 points. The Hawks took it forward and could only add a behind before the Roys worked it forward again where Cheetah slotted home a goal to surely seal the win. As the time ticked away the Hawks were unable to reduce the lead and the home team erupted when the final siren went. ROYS 11.8.74 Hawks 9.3.57

The Roys were finishing off another season with some good form. Two narrow losses to the top 2 teams and a win over 3rd place in successive weeks had the Roys supporters pumped with their teams prospects against the 9th placed Furies Bombers.
And the Roys looked good. Freakie was hitting targets, Wonaemirri33 was spinning out of packs, Cheetah was sprinting like a man possessed and Fred was grabbing everything that came to him.
With the warmup over the Roys forgot their warmup skills and could only manage a behind as the Bombers raced away to a 21 point lead. Icefreak goaled on the siren to keep the Roys in touch.
At the quarter time address the coach told the players to forget the first quarter, which was a simple feat as most had forgetten anyway despite the coaches words. But in the deep recesses of the Roys minds those words struck a chord.
The Bombers opened with a behind, which the Roys answered followed by a FattyLumpkin goal. The Bombers goaled before Cheetah had a miss, but that miss was followed by goals to the F-troop (Fred, FattyLumpkin and fitzroybulldog) and the Roys were 4 points ahead. The Bombers scored enough to get themselves ahead by 4 points before the Roys did likewise to take back a 4 point lead. The Bombers goaled just before the half and led going in to the rooms.
The Bombers slinked off to a 10 point lead early in the 3rd but Reardo and Fred goaled to put the Roys back in front. Then the Roys went to sleepTM - The Bombers scored an unanswered 5 goals 3 behinds and we were 31 points down after 3 quarters.
The Roys managed to find the scoreboard in the last quarter kicking 4 goals 1, but the Bombers went better with 6 goals 1 to take out the win and ensure Roylions 250th game was one to forget. ROYS 13.6.84 Bombers 19.13.127
