2013 Favourite Moments

A few thoughts on 2013 as I take in some replays on Foxtel:

- Cameron O'Shea is an INCREDIBLE player. Not sure there's another quite like him in the league. Kane is the 3km king, but I'm sure by a more sophisticated measurement (eg beep test), O'Sheezy would be our fittest player. He can go 100% all game. He's brave going back with the flight and does the work of two players in bringing the ball at defense with his workrate. At some stage, the media and competition will catch on if he continues at this level.

- Monfries is a very smart player. Not blessed with elite athleticism, he continuously works his way into space and to get uncontested ball and help us maintain possession. This is what we couldn't/wouldn't do in 2008-12. And it's infectious. Good overhead for his size.

- The Brisbane game was umpired fairly.

O'Shea's transformation under Hinkley demonstrates how massively inept Primus was as a coach (even taking into account his lack of support).

These are from Dylan8 in the Ollie Wines thread. The tackle on Rodan that announced Ollie to the AFL made the AFL site's top 10 tackles and bumps of 2013.

Like a fish swimming into a squid.

Dylan8 can you do Wingard's goal from Pittard's kick in the last quarter of the Collingwood final?

Off topic (cont.) That's a blast from the past, 'comment Wally May" was everyone's favourite footy saying.

The late great Wally May RIP in the great commentary box in the sky.
I remember this from the Channel 9 booth one day (presumably someone had just been ironed out at Alberton):
Max Hall: "Comment Wally May"
Wally May: "No comment"
Max Hall: "Fair comment Wally"

We truly had some great moments last year, from the Hinkley advert, until the Westhoff miracle goal...the year wound back the clock for a lot of us supporters, back to the time when Port 'never give in' mantra was as part of Port Adelaide as Alberton. The last few seasons I would look forward to the next with butterflies in my stomach wondering what misfortunes we would next face, but now you just want to shout 'bring it on' knowing the football gods themselves are intervening against the forces of sanfl evil that have transpired against us :)

i just watched the first half of the semi final v geelong. biggest thing i noticed was our intensity. we were fierce.

its hard to say who will step aside for the likes of white and polec to come in. the default guy is logan, but i don think he will. i think it will be dom and sammy c and young

It's so difficult to pin point my favourite moments from 2013. The West Coast come back springs to mind. The intensity of the Port Adelaide supporters are second to none in the competition, which is a sure fire favourite of any game. The march to the G for the elimination final was awesome. And then sticking it up to the Collingwood during and after the match was delightful. ;)

On the top 10 tackles and bumps how could Jonas not be included, his bump was brutal robertons headband.came flying of!

Thinking back again over the season it is very hard to pinpoint any one favourite moment, but the one for me was that Wingard goal against the crows, for the simple fact that you just knew he would nail it. At that moment for myself it seemed that all the past 'mentally fragile' expectations since 2007, that had plagued the team as a whole were truly washed away, and the Port Adelaide way of taking a game by the horns when all was lost and hopeless, and finding a way to win, was back. But a very long moment that is my favourite is of course the finals win over the Woods

The atmosphere at the club towards the end and just after the Collingwood final. We may as well have won the premiership, lids were well and truly off that night.

Even though I wasn't there, it would have to be the Collingwood final. However beating Sydney & Collingwood in consecutive weeks would have to be up there as well.

First post from a longtime lurker here.

Most of the on field ones have been taken so trying to be different, i'd have to say the long term appointments to most of our top 10 players would be one of my highlights.

Can't remember a year where we've been able to stitch up almost every key signing in a short period of time like we did with Wingard earlier in the year then all of our leadership group over Christmas.

Would've been nice to get Ollie stitched up too but he isn't going anywhere.
