Jimmy Toumpas

I doubt the dees would swap Toumpas for 5 Andrew Moores, our 2nd pick and Young ( with Moore thrown in as the steaknives ) may get it across the line, but as others have said, let's get Charlie stitched up first. ;)

I think Young might end up at St Kilda. Richo likes him. Andrew Moore frustrated the f**ken daylights outta me.
Wish him well but after all this time something had to give.
I like the way we are shaping up if the rumours are true. From the crow'vertiser seems like Toumpas is a done deal.
Posters on here that are close to the club's inner sanctum say the same of Dixon. If all true then YAHOO !!!!
Roll on 2016

"That is a very good point. Italians and Greeks are extremely family orientated" , and ? , no diff to most others id say, no extra points to be gathered in the , I wanna go home stakes .

Actually there are many differences and the family ties in Greek and Italian families are very strong in general and a big part and factor in life decisions.
That doesn't go to say that your family ties aren't strong or important though.

Chances are Jimmy has some family in Melbourne anyway.

Toumpas doesn't make sense to me. Top 4 draft pick even a homesick one still has lots of currency. We are undervaluing him here.

And if he's homesick, why isn't he into the cows? More salary cap space, more picks more chance of a successful trade home.

Like Chewbacher, it does not make sense.

Makes perfect sense to me. Bloke wants to be a part of a football club, not a franchise.

Cant see a Toumpas / Moore swap without some other manoeuvrings.

We had to cough up pick 14 for Polec in a complex trade
How is Moore worth toumpas?
exactly.. he isnt

Moore is 24, a pick 9 and has played 55 games in in 6 seasons. Hasnt lived up to expectations and isnt going to be any more than a fringe player
Toumpas is 21, a pick 4 and has played 27 games in 3 seasons. Hasnt lived up to expectations yet due to "Melbourne" and injury issues but has a high ceiling if he gets his body right

Moore > Toumpas straight swap isnt going to happen. We'll need to give them more

Remember we had to lose pick 14 (in a complex deal) to get Polec (similar stage of career and high pick like Toumpas).
Pick 10 seems all but gone for Dixon

If we are to get Toumpas it will be far more complicated than a straight swap. Melbourne arent going to give up a Pick 4 draftee with only 3 years on their list for a guy thats been around for 7 years who cant even get a game

Which is why we need a second rounder for young which I still see as a long shot.

With pick 10 pretty much gone and the salary cap fit to bursting I can't really see where we can be going for more than the one trade this year, and that seems to be Dixon. Other clubs manage to get players for little cost. Despite having such stars as Swan, Pendlebury, Cloke, Elliott, Adams to pay Collingwood seem to get along OK and are the target for more leaving GWS stars. Hawthorn with their success have no problem attracting new talent despite never having more than late picks to offer.
I may be wrong, I often have been, but I cannot see what we can offer Melbourne for Toumpas, exactly what we see in him and how we would be able to pay him.

If you were a talented guy who'd struggled with confidence and injuries, would you rather be coached by Ken Hinkley and Darren Burgess or by <TBA> and Brett Burton?

He could probably get a bigger initial contract from the Crows than from us, but it's not just his first contract he has to think about. If he gets to a club that develops him right, it could be the difference between him being paid to play AFL football for 10 years or being out of the system after 2 years.

Can we go into next years draft without our second rounder after possibly not having a pick in this years in the top 40
