Bennell was ousted by the club, Dixon wanted more money and loves Hinkley and Smith wanted more opportunity. I don't know a player that has left that lost hope in the club.
Dixon comes to mind. Although it was mainly for money, him needing a fresh start after 2 disappointing years definitely played a part.

We still could have about 4-6 players from that post-season golf trip and the one who was with Harley when he did the cocaine (if he wasn't on the golf trip). Leadership is improving, but still lacking in my opinion. Player retention is still an ongoing problem and to my knowledge, medical problems still haven't been fully resolved,

Why is player reyention a issue ? Caddy is the only player in 5 years we have lost that we wanted , this year we have Dicko being given a godfather deal from Port , Harley booted , Zac going elsewhere for gametime . We need to deal in facts here and not panic posts.

There are 'rumours' going around that the Suns more or less pushed him out. So while he did leave for more money, the Suns basically lowballed him in hope of him asking for a trade. Makes sense when you take into account how Rocket/Ashcroft/etc spoke about Dixon before he announced he wanted to join Snakeinthegrass Hinkley.

Please, Zac isn't a huge loss but i'm sure the club would rather keep him. If he goes and we don't Currie (which is probably the reason we're going after him), we're screwed in terms of ruck depth. Hine was offered a contract and knocked it back. Club was also disappointed to lose Hickey, but were able to live with it given we had 4 other rucks on the list at the time. Krakouer leaving probably wasn't ideal either. Nor was it with Alex Keath (who left to play cricket before even entered in the AFL).

I highly doubt that. They just simply refused to pay him the amount he was asking, so he left. Nothing more to it really, except for having a fresh start after losing hope in the club's direction after 2 disappointing years.

Yep Suns wanted him gone been a big problem for about 2 years ever since his girlfriend walked out on him turned to alcohol & drugs, broke team rules multiple time refused to step up as a leader. Club very happy he's gone

He's not gone yet...

I remember back in 2010 when he 'broke the player's code' and was sent back to the QAFL to play for Labrador. I always wondered what he did.

Well it just pains me to know that with all the concessions given to us are going to waste. The concessions were designed to be a fail-proof plan for success. We had all these concessions, which was our best chance of winning a premiership, and now we're pretty much starting at ground zero like every other club that enters a rebuild. It's like winning the lottery than pissing all the money away, and now we start from the bottom like again like everyone else.

It's also painful to see GWS going so well (I know they didn't make finals, but at the start of the year after beating Hawthorn they looked like a top 4 team). With a little more consistency I wouldn't be surprised if GWS made the top 4 next year. I know GWS had better draft concessions, but they did pretty much everything right and a premiership is probably only 3 years away for them.

The 2010-2012 (2013 to a lesser extent) group of players is the reason I started following the suns, and to see the majority of them not winning a premiership is extremely disappointing, especially after all the pain we initially went through.
Disagree - GWS no closer than us to a premiership. Carlton will see to that !

Wells hard at work on Smith deal.
The way the cats been wheeling and dealing expect a deal tmoz.

They have 46 and 50 and I believe they can't even trade their 2016 2nd rd pick as they have traded their 2016 1st rd pick

Gold Coast are going to have to be very 'terrific' to accept the shit picks they have at the moment

Will have to get a pick in from somewhere to work this out

What about a player? Do they have anyone uncontracted besides Walker.

I wouldn't mind Nathan Vardy or Shane Kerstern. One of the two will seriously struggle for games with Hendersen coming to the cats. I'd also like Jake Kolodjashnij, but he's probably in their best 22 now (unless Hendersen plays down back)

In my opinion, one of Kerstern, Vardy or Walker has to go. They can't fit them all in with Hawkins, Clark & Hendersen in the side (and possibly a second ruck in Smith or Stanley)

Smith to Geelong,
Walker and Jansen to Brisbane,
Brisbane's 2016 second rounder to Gold Coast

Thoughts?

I know where you are coming from but realistically Suns are delusional if they think they can win a premiership in Abletts time. I'm a Suns member but also a realist. Too many people here just think finals and a premiership will happen - it isn't that easy !
Fremantle not won a premiership since inception - going 20 yrs. St Kilda 1 in 100 yrs, Bulldogs 1 in about the same. Melbourne no premiership since 1960's. All those clubs have a greater tradition and football experience than us.
That said - we are and will be a competitive side
I just think some supporters need to lower expectations and enjoy the ride - so what if we become a kindergarten for future stars - at least we get see them first !!!
no way! No chance in hell. This attitude is s cancer at clubs.

I care. I want a premiership. We all should. It should be our single guiding mission.

Henderson recruited specifically for down back. Hawkins Full Forward . Clark and Vardy to fight for CHF.

Cats said he will play both forward and down. They already have Taylor and Lonergan down back, and he isn't that much better than Kolodjashnij as a key defender. I think he will be a swingman.
But even if he does play down back, either Smith or Stanley will play as 2nd ruck meaning only one of Vardy, Walker and Kerstern will get a regular game. As stated before, one of the 3 must go.

I am all of the above - with a touch of reality that comes from supporting football clubs in different States at different levels for 45 years .

wouldn't be against getting kersten. vardy's a bit too injury prone though.
I'd rather an injury prone Vardy then the shit picks the cats are offering. But ideally I would like Kerstern or Walker ahead of him.

Walker or Kersten (ex WA) to Fremantle for 2016 2nd round pick - on traded to us for Smith....?
