wow... good to know we are throwing the baby out with the bath water after a loss again.

we played poorly, last week we had the hawks by the short and curlys, the week before we dismantled the pies with 2 players fit after halftime and 1 fit for the last quarter.

also Richo held them all responsible, every player was put on notice and each one had there review done infront of the playing group after the game. His angry and he targeted everyone from senior players to young guns.

Well that's good to hear - about the review.
As far as throwing the baby out with the bathwater...well, we do that very well on BF

pathetic.

hickey can hold his head up high. great effort against a much bigger ruckman. savage kept us in it at time.

can we start openly talking about luke dunstan. another piss poor TOG%. 64%. i cant remember the last time a mid of ours had such a low %. that's first year stuff not, 3rd year. worst performed of the full time mids.

its time to make a call on who's playing senior. its one of ross or dunstan, but we cant afford to carry both cause when we do we get slaughtered on the outside
I don't get this post? Are you up the bloke for the amount of game time the coach gave him?

You can't remember the last time a mid had that little TOG%? Well it was 8 days ago, Blake Acres with 57%.

"We had the conversation with the players, we just had way too many passengers today … we had some leaders not quite get it done, some of the younger leaders."

"We just butchered the footy going forward,"

"That's probably as poor as we've used the ball.

"It was sloppy and we'd certainly had enough time to prepare …"

Guess I was at the same game as Richo today, eh?
You were at the same game as me as well if you agree with Richo.

Glad Richo read the riot act. Totally unacceptable. Players need to know it was just deplorable

i'm saying he can't run games out... i'm not sure using blake acres 57% last week proves anything, if anything it supports what i'm saying. if he cant contribute he should be dropped.

atleast blake can play a number of positions...

Whoever played on Greene to begin with needs to be dropped. Average footballer made it look like a superstar today.

Lonie has used his petrol ticks and it's time to go back into the vfl.

Lee was in our top 6 today with how the ball was coming in. Used the ball beautifully.

Geary well not sure who he played on exactly as all there small forwards killed us. The sooner he is replaced the better.

Savage needs to learn to defend first then attack.

Minch needs to find more if the ball and same with Sinclair as they can actually use it.

Ross another solid game without being great.

Dunstan needs to spread more.

Steven tried hard but needs to improve his disposal.

Hickey had the better of mummy which is a big plus.

Chips and Dempster battled hard.

Clearance work esp at centre bounces is appalling and this needs to be addressed asap. Got absolutely killed in there today.

And I won't say anything about overall disposal by foot and hand. That was under 12's like.

Thought Hickey played great game .
However must play Longer with him next week .

Lonie needs rest to me .
Armitage play in forward line his turnovers are killing them.

But credit to GWS they are now on their way .

Too much talent for us today

I think Toby Greene was one of the best performed young footballers in the land before his Zagame's assault. He looked like Ben cousins mark II. He's been pretty good all year and looks like he's getting his mojo back. I thought Ross was particularly good today he was in just about everything we were involved in. Great running from him. I though Lee was good and Savage. We just had too many guys second to the ball. Mav, Billings, Minch all looked behind the play.

I dare say it was cautionary.

That said, 12 contested possessions (equal highest), 2 assists (also equal highest), 5 clearances (3 centre) and a goal for himself in 64% game time is rather promising.

The delivery into the F50 today was shambolic. When this serious deficiency is corrected you see Paddy and Bruce kicking bags.
Giants forwards were just too tall. As much as Fisher and Dempster try it´s just frightening when the ball comes down quickly.
Lee is worth persisting with. He´s played well in that peel off role that Fisher and Dempster have done in the past.
When Carlisle is back and Goddard gets into the rhythm of AFL football we will have a pretty solid defense.
Hickey played very well. I don´t like the idea of having Bruce or Lee doing the relief rucking. I think it would be worth
bringing in Longer as a second ruck man when his form warrants it. Don´t mind seeing Roo drop back occasionally to help in defense
although his game today on the wing and spending time in the F50 was fantastic. Such a great player he is.

How does that work though if Longer plays? Doesn't that mean Hickey hardly rucks? That would be madness with how good his form is.

How come we had skill against Collingwood and Hawks but none today?

Does skill come and go?

We seem to play shit at the Dome. We can't score or move the ball with out the extra space of the MCG.

I've never had much of a problem with Collingwood fans on here (the odd potting of Freeman aside), Freo and Bulldog fans on the other hand...
They're both surprisingly arrogant for teams that have achieved **** all, it's quite sad how much dogs fans hate nick to pathetic bunch of cretins

Obviously our disposal efficiency, particularly I50s, was rubbish which constantly let us down but we were OK in most other areas. We're better than what we showed today, we delivered the footy pretty well in the Hawks/Pies/Power games. Need to stop the dinky handpasses at people's feet, the delay to gather the ball kills our midfield spread.

Good week to have a strong VFL performance. Gresh should come in for Lonie and wouldn't mind Membrey coming in either. Hopefully White can put some good performances together and crack into the team sooner rather than later.

Richo seems to have favourites. But agree - Dunstan not our worst. But the issue isnt him per se - it is the sameness of the midfield. Armo is a gun and Ross and Dunstan are individually accomplished players - but together they are a below average unit. Too similar and it is a team game. We still need a Freeman and someone else who can spread and over-lap and help Steven out going fwd rather than three crabs going sideways.
Speaking as someone who is currently coaching a footy team I can say that all coaches have their favorites, it's a natural thing. You like/rate some players more than others, just like teachers have favorite students and employers have favorite employees.

As far as the ongoing Armo/Ross/Dunstan debate is concerned I tend to disagree. Pre-2015 Armo was very much an inside player, but since he's slimmed down and improved his running he's started geting so much more outside ball, hence his greatly increased disposal numbers. He's very much an inside and outside mid now. Ross is this year also getting a lot more outside ball, keeps bobbing up in open space with the ball. Dunstan is an inside bull who does a lot of the dirty work in and under and has elite hands in tight situations, although he does need to improve his outside game like the other two have and I'm sure he will. Also Armo (81 goals in 133 games) and Dunstan (22 goals in 39 games) are both great at drifting forward and kicking a goal.

They're probably similarly paced which is why Steven, Gresham, hopefully Freeman and another recruit who offers a point of difference will be important going forward. But Armo/Ross/Dunstan all have their own individual strengths and weaknesses, I think the theory that they can't play together is nonsense.

It just didn't seem like our players were prepared to take it on today, especially after the 1st quarter - we lost a bit of belief in ourselves. Even though we were butchering the ball I didn't want us to go back into our shells and chip sideways to a safe bet but we did.

I don't think we'll go berserk at the selection table. Time to hold our nerve a little and focus on what we have achieved in recent times. Jack L is clearly out of form despite the poor forward entries and he's got a few mates but he should go back to Sandy. I think Jade might get another gig. Tommy C deserves a shot but I'm not sure the coaches have faith in him. On todays showing he could not have done worse than a couple of our more touted players.

Well done T Lee had that goal gone through it may have lifted the whole team and jeez did we need a lift.

Well, that could be just a tad problematic :(
