Members probably received this from the club today:
There’s a long and proud history of the Geelong Football Club that spans 157 years.
We are extremely proud of Simonds Stadium and of the way the first three stages of its redevelopment have transformed it into one of the best sporting venues in the nation.
The fourth stage of the Simonds Stadium redevelopment, which includes the new Charles Brownlow Stand, is already well underway. The new stand will house state-of-the-art facilities for our players, supporters and the broader community, breathing new life into the home of the Cats and the Greater Geelong region. It will comprise of:
• Additional 6,500 seats, taking stadium capacity to 36,000
• Sit-down function room – the largest in Geelong
• New coaches box and media facilities
• A ‘Fan Portal’ space
• Tripling the size of the football department area
• Cafe, merchandise and membership facilities
To deliver this game changing redevelopment and financially safeguard our club well into the future, we have set ourselves the target to raise $100m – this is Our Ambition . We are proud to report that we have secured $98.97m to date through contributions from State Government, City of Greater Geelong, the AFL, our past and present Directors, our sponsors, ‘Friends of Geelong’, including a remarkable donation by the Costa Brothers; together with our staff, our coaches and our players.
The outcome of Our Ambition will be profound. It will deliver some of the best facilities of any club in the AFL and will mean our club is effectively debt free for the first time in 50 years.
Over the coming weeks we will distribute information to advise how you, one of our valued members, can choose to be a part of Our Ambition. You may also read further information via our channels or other media outlets over the coming days. For now, we would like to share the exciting vision of the new Charles Brownlow Stand in the below video.
Yours Sincerely,
