Pretty sure we traded our 2017 second pick to Gold Coast (usually not allowed but AFL allows it as long as you trade back into the second round either this year or next).

We then got back in the second round of 2017 by trading 48, 66 and 70 to Carlton. So our 2nd round pick in 2017 is tied to Carlton's ladder position not ours.

I just had a look and I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it was the second rounder we got from the blues who got it from GWS so if I'm right we still have our second rounder for next year

Hard to tell as AFL website doesn't specify who's future second rounder it is just says future 2nd rounder from x to x.

Should 5 and 3 be given to someone that is worthy as in they've proven themselves, or is it just another number?

My first thoughts are to retire 5 for a while. Give Jaeger 10 (10/10) and Tom 3.

Well either way only 1 future second went to GC so we have a second rounder to use next year!

According the the AFL website, we hold Carlton's 2017 second rounder, Carlton hold GWS' 2017 second rounder and GC hold our 2017 second rounder. GC also have Freo's 2017 second rounder.

How did that come to pass? No one knows. But it sounds good to me.

The article I read said that we gave our own 2nd rounder to GCS and we kept the 2nd rounder we got from Carlton which was actually from GWS. This makes sense because GCS probably think GWS finish higher than us next year and so would have wanted our 2nd rounder because it gets them a better pick.
Not 100% sure though, it's just what I read.
