Played against a guy in the gdfl last year matt dean from Anakie, shocking team but no fault of his just went at every contest like his life depended on it, had a few of the so called hard men from that league running scared

gary abley is one of the dirtiest players ive seen in country football, ive seen him hit behind play and prays on younger blokes.
i hope he doesnt play this year, hes to old and dirty for the game.

That's not tough. I can't cop players like that.

Johnny Macnamara when playing with Moone Valley in EDFL just had a an aura about him and was pretty intimidating, as well as being the best sledger I have come accross on a footy field. Never dirty but never srugged an issue either.

Dean Lupson is the toughest and dirtiest footballer i have ever seen play football. Would have Johnny Mac running around in brown boots, anyone who has seen him play would know what im talking about.

Ted Fidge was the only player to ever knock Darren Millane out, after Millane stood on his hand. When he captain-coached Sale straight out of league footy he was known as a human wrecking ball. Later in his career at Bentleigh his mobility was gone but anyone who got within a five metre radius of him knew about it.

peter dean and matthew amad were the 2 toughest players in the diamond valley both had eyes only for the ball and were fearless in the way they constantly put thier body on the line

Carl Dickins and Marcus Osborne spring to mind from the O & M
These 2 have no consideration for there bodies at all. Looking forward to watching a few of Corowa's games this year. Especially with Dickins pulling the boots on again.

Not the toughest guy I've played on but I do remember playing in a team with Colin Sylvia who's now with Melbourne in the AFL. He was a feirce little midfielder and always went really hard at the ball and opponents although he was a small little unit, tiny compared to some of the boys he'd take on. Always a great guy to have on your team

seymour picked up a bloke called saad saad that is gun in the G.V. he takes a hanger a game and his second efforts are pretty impressive. he is very tough to match up on. small but can play tall

I agree, and picking on younger blokes can wreak their game for the rest of their carrer all because of some bloke probaly gets stood over by his missus. Hopefuly someones dad or friend flogs him in a pub or something.

Watched that bloke Dickens play the same game i first watched Guy Chisnall tear it up, and Dickens is well split his open and would come off then seen him down the pub sinking a few. Good on the boys and good luck to them Go The Corowa Roos.

Peter Johns from the Sunraysia Football league. Was built like a brick ********house and never ever took a backward step. I would say he was one of the most intimidating players to step onto the field. No-one wanted to mess with him because he was so hard. Saw him slice his knee open on a sprinkler one day, you could see the kneecap and he just taped it up and kept playing. Absolute legend in the league having won a League Best and Fairst Award as well as 3 club Best and Fairest Awards at 3 different clubs. Was an inspiration to watch.

His son has all the trademarks of following in his footsteps.

Your Kidding right? Saad Saad? He is the lasiest footballer I have seen! Happy to sit behind the pack and take a hanger but won't get out in front and take a mark when needed. Will not do the dour team things.

I did'nt play against him or with him but i was t'manager to him a 'gentleman' by the name of ASHLEIGH BROWN certainly left his mark on the league for the season he spent here last year, previously played with collingwood u19's & 2nds 91' (under L matthews) and what i've heard then wen't to finley and thereafter i think to Kyabram, before the season (05) @ Millicent in the wbfl he was coach at Latrobe in the ntfl in Tas and funnily enough he was highly regarded and still is (back there in 06 w East devenport). He put 4 guys in hospital @ casterton (not behind play ********) it was like a production line at holdens ! they were lining up 1 after the other to have a crack at him to no avail boof boof boof boof - down down down down while the rest of the team was building up point's for the melee rule !.Definatly the toughest i've seen and one of the best coaches i've seen at country level, pity we didnt get him 4 years ago when his legs were right.

Always difficult to say the toughest guy that Ive seen but here are some of my nominations.

- Andy Goodwin (Wandin FC in the YVMDFL). Tough verging on mad. Single handedly won Wandin a couple of premierships with his willingness to put his body on the line, often resulting in serious injuries. Often much maligned by opposition supporters but I would love him on my team anyday. Probably one of the best players I have seen in my time in local football.

- David Preston (Bairnsdale FC in the EGFL). Inspirational leader and didn't know the word compromise. Went at 100% all the time and certainly was tough, great leader of men and tough and hard at the footy.

- Brett Duff (Clayton FC in the EFL/SFL). 300 plus games for the Clayton FC and a tough and hard player who belies his slight frame and lack of height. A guy I always would have like to have on my side. Also a guy who epitomises loyalty and rejected many offers to play at higher levels in order to play for his beloved Clayton FC.

teddy was a gun:thumbsu:

Dean Lupson gave it but more importantly coped it sweet as well Robbie Walker in the O and M feared no one. In the WRFL a bloke named Dean Comensoli frightened the whole league as a teenager. He had a terrible left foot but a great right hand. However, even he was frightened of Shane Keogh. Also, for eyes on the ball but can't fight tough try Stephen Moss
