My current team. D1, D3 and R1 are the spots I keep switching around. I want Simpson/Laird/Lloyd in DEF but the only way to do it is by switching Goldy to Grundy or Stef which I don't really want to do. I can't upgrade Rance to Simpson or Mills to Lloyd coz I'm 1k short either way.

I'm happy with the rest of my team.

you could always sacrifice your ruck security for some extra cash.
if you're lucky Preuss or Cameron or English will get picked.
if not just go with Strnadica, cross your fingers and pray.

I've just started binge watching this (S2E3) on boxsets. Keep reading how it's GOAT series so I want to see what the fuss is about. So far, I'm liking it.
Its pretty slow going each season starts a new storys.
The fuuuuuu ep/ scene got me hooked.
Better than the sopranos imho.

Latest team, still have $259,700 to spend.

With that I can bump Sandi up to anyone but Goldy/NicNat

OR

One of the other rookies up to Nank/Steele/Turner etc (Join Mid-Price Madness)
Upgrade Roughie would make it risk free, you could always swap him in rd 3 if he fires cos he'd have to cut sick to be worth having.

First time playing so keen to have to my team pulled apart. I've tried to avoid mid-pricers and have gone deepish in the mid at the expense of a thin defence.
114k left in the bank, with which Im considering go Gawn -> Martin/Grundy, Hannebery -> Heppell, rookie -> Howe/Lloyd

Is good, nice pod in Shiel
Forget Howe , features too much in Spudcoach over in the bay13 for my liking.:drunk:

final go before teams start getting released.

DEF: docherty, shaw, j. lloyd, marchbank, hampton, vickers-willis, otten, z. guthrie
MID: dangerfield, treloar, fyfe, wines, josh kelly, d beams, o'meara, powell-pepper, barrett, pickett, parfitt
RUCK: gawn, sandilands, strnadica
FWD: dahlhaus, franklin, roughead, steele, hoskin-elliot, tarranto, houston, eddy

still $20k leftover. not 100 on marchbank, guthrie, hoskin-elliot or the benches in general. kinda wanted to swap out marchbank for rance and switch around my mids to get another rookie, but there aren't any too many that are standouts.

Wines will either make or break your midfield. One headache I'd be steering clear of.
Edit: especially when you have Kelly which is the better gamble?

Anything in my side i should change? currently happy with my side apart from rookies, still got 106k left if i should make any changes throw suggestions at me? AFL.jpg

Josh Kelly risky aswell

I'd go the Cripps/Bont combo if going for improvement from youngsters

This is very similar structure to my team.
Differences are.
Docherty --> Adams
Lloyd --> Tuohy
Wines --> JPK
Kelly --> Jelwood
Gawn --> Goldstein
Franklin --> Greene
Hoskin Elliott --> Pickett/Fwd rookie
6 differences(not including 150> rookies).
I've got 32.6K

Anyway. other than the fact that it is similar to my team which means I think it's pretty good. One big question is Wines. Not sure if he'll improve his output.

MIDs are bang on.

RUCKs are fine. Leave them and invest $ elsewhere.

DEF is probably one decent premo short, so I'd look to upgrade Marchbank.

Likewise, you're reliant on 3 rookies pumping out half of your FWDs score. Tad risky for mine. Consider bringing in Nank as coverage for Sandi if he goes down.

It's good,
Possibly Steele could go to a rookie
Doc to a cheaper option and get another premo mid but up to you
Tinkered with my team! Switching structures! Which one do people like better?

A:
DEF: Doch, Laird, Rance, Hampton, Hibberd, Otten (Stewart, Vickers Mills)

MID: Danger, Treloar, JPK, Fyfe, Beams, Adams, Taranto, Powell Pepper (Baratt, Pickett, Atley)

RUCK: Gawn, Sandi (Strandica)

FWD: Roo, Dahl, Ryder, Steele, WHE, Houston (Butler, Eddy)

B:

DEF: Shaw, Laird, Marchbank, Hampton, Hibberd, Otten (Stewart, Vickers Mills)

MID: Danger, Pendles, Treloar, JPK, Fyfe, Beams, TMitch, Powell Pepper (Baratt, Parfitt, Atley)

RUCK: Gawn, Sandi (Strandica)

FWD: Macrae, Dahl, Nank, Steele, Taranto, Pickett (Houston, Eddy)

Any thoughts on this awesome side... Have tried to keep the full-on rookies to 4 on ground. Bit worried about weak defence, but will try and use a donut for the rookie loop-hole to try and make up for it. M7/8 a bit light on, but no different to most teams. Fwd line I'm pretty comfortable with. Cheers....

Like it, except for your rucks and McCarthy.

I think you need one top ruck who isn't an injury risk.

McCarthy's best average is 53. Kicked 6 goals on the weekend for eighty odd. Just not a SC player.

I made a pre-JLT post with the team I had and an unnecessarily long spiel on why I had chosen that side....I thought it was only appropriate to do the same pre- R1 :p

Anyway, I've settled on this for R1 (Rookies Included unless one of them is a Shock Omission for Rd1...Most of them have already been confirmed as R1 Starters though so I'm not worried).

DEFENCE:

K. Simpson

Pretty straightforward selection once I thought about it, just needed to see that he was fit and firing in JLT (Which he absolutely was). Durability is an incredibly underrated asset, especially for defenders. This bloke has only missed 5 games in 11 Seasons (That means he has played 237 out of a possible 242 games...INSANE!!!). His scoring capacity is spoken for: Scored 15 tons last year and his LOWEST score for the entire year was 84.

T. Adams

I tinkered with the idea of not having him here given his injury history and habit of getting reported...but it just wasn't possible. He is a pure midfielder available in defence and that makes him a must-have. Has been elevated to the Magpie leadership group as 1 of 3 so hopefully his rowdy antics cease! Will comfortably average 100+ if he plays 22 games and will also become a Mid-Only option next year so make hay people...

R. Laird

Surprising to see that he is only in 27% of teams! Laird is set to spend more time in the midfield and even if he doesn't- will run the show down back. As consistent as they come and will finish as a top 8 defender.

C. Marchbank

In plenty of defences at D4 and rightly so IMO. Started 2016 off very nicely with a 93 before injury struck in Rd 2. Did you know that 33% of Carlton's Overall SC Total per game is scored by defenders? They are #1 in the AFL for that category. This is simply because the ball is in their defence A LOT. Marchbank's intercept work was terrific in JLT and he is developing in the mould of an aggressive defender (very much a modern concept!).

C. Hampton

$160k. Solid JS. Decent Scoring Potential. SC-Friendly Role. Lock and Move on with your life imo.

E. Vickers-Willis

I like the way young Ed plays, seems to have taken over Spud Firrito's vacant spot in the defensive half and was impressive in the JLT. Has clean hands and looks to use the ball by foot more often than not which is definitely a good thing. Realistically, D6 could just as easily be filled by Stewart or Otten, but I've gone with EVW.

MIDFIELD

P. Dangerfield

*Sigh*. I tried to justify my team without him, I really did. But it just doesn't work. He destroyed the JLT and looks very very fit coming into the season proper. The cost of NOT having him is absolutely enormous, so he could be picked based on that theory alone.

D. Hannebery

Only in 11% of teams for some reason. Gave up alcohol after last season and recorded PB's in every single time-trial the club had. Had a quiet JLT which I think is great because a lot of people have kicked him out of their sides as a result. Only went under 600k after Round 13 last year...so you could be waiting a while if you want him cheaper.

L. Neale

Hasn't left my side since the Team-Picker opened. Absolute superstar who will take the step up to ULTRA-ELITE status this year. Averaged 113 whilst copping tags and dealing with injuries last year...Fyfe is back now and Neale will absolutely sky-rocket. The best POD I've picked in recent years (Although it might be a bit early to say that :p)

A. Treloar

In the same boat as Neale. Part of the 'Next Generation' who will dominate the sport for the next 5-10 years. Only in 20% of teams which surprises me considering the enormous upside.

N. Fyfe

Lock. Move on.

D. Beams

See above.

J. O'Meara

In 51% of teams!!! Perfect cash cow in the midfield, he will be ready to upgrade just as ultra-premo's dip a little bit. Has excellent scoring potential and looks very fit.

S. Powell-Pepper

The Beast!! Lock Lock Lock.

RUCKS

T. Nankervis

I tinkered and tinkered but in the end, the Nankilands combo works best for me. I think Toby will average 90-100 this year and lay a foundation to flourish next year, we have seen rucks change club and become a real weapon at their new club as the #1 big-man (Mumford/Jacobs for example). I think Nanny K will fit the bill and play all 22 as a real key for the Tiges this year.

A. Sandilands

Plenty of people afraid he will get injured but he played 21 games in 2014 and 2015! Only a freakish knee to the back ended his 2016, he's an R2 CERTAINTY FOLKS!!!

FORWARDS

N. Riewoldt

Has plenty of games at Etihad early and his new role on a wing is perfect for SC. Has a great ceiling and is consistent as well! Considered bringing him in after a price drop but I really do think he will burn it up early and I dont want to miss out.

L. Dahlhaus

Genuine LOCK in every sense of the word.

S. Higgins

Are people still reading? I assumed that after seeing 'S. Higgins' they would have screamed, smashed their computer with an axe, set it on fire and then burnt their house down. North are absolutely BARREN when it comes to talented ball users, Higgins is probably the only real one to speak of! Spent all his time in the midfield in JLT and was put on ice after the first half in JLT3 (A testament to his importance). He is underpriced and I feel he will replicate his 95avg of 2015, perhaps even add a few more points onto it given the role change.

J. Roughead

Was an ultra-premo fwd at one stage, at this price he is a must for every single forward line.

T. Taranto

This kid will be a superstar one day, the fact that he is forcing his way into this insanely talented GWS side says a lot about his capabilities. Coniglio and Deledio are both out for a while so his JS is looking pretty dam good.

T. Miles

This could be Butler/Eddy but I think Miles has the best scoring capacity of the 3. Plays a role in defense and was entrusted with kick-out duties in the JLT so he has a decent scope for scoring. Hawthorn also love to share the pill around which doesn't hurt his case either!

Thats all! Any comments/questions/feedback?
:)

Best of all time by a mile for me. Great show. Never saw myself having a gay gangster as a favourite character!
