Hird was judged by many to let it go and move on, which he eventually did.

Seems now that these same people need to take their own advice, move on and accept it.

On Friday, Clarkson was rapt that Hird could return to the game after a two-year exile, following his departure as Essendon coach.

"Hirdy has been a wonderful servant of the game," Clarkson said.

"Any time he wants to come back into the fold and he's welcomed back into the fold, that's great for footy.

"He's been a wonderful ambassador for our game.

"Things turned a little bit sour in the last three or four years, but at some point in time I hope we can put all that behind us and just get on with it."

Also on Friday, Hardwick said the AFL community should welcome Hird back.

"He's a great leader and a great friend of mine. From my point of view, (we should) wrap your arms around him and bring him back in," Hardwick said.

Whilst Hird has done nothing to not warrant this and I couldn't give 2 shits what the other lesser clubs think I would hate for Hirdy to have to go through that.

So it seems that the AFL's plan for Hird all along was to ruin and destroy him and then build him back up with a good bloke redemption tour.

If I was him I'd tell them to shove it, then again I'm not the classiest man in every room I've ever walked into like he is.
