I wouldn’t say a sticking point but more that there is still some work to be done there. There is an “off-field” component of the deal for both Rory and Belinda. It will get done! Has been in the works for a while.

Rory is not a FIGJAM by nature. Leaving a lot of coin on the table from Victorian clubs to be a one club player. Loves the club, loves SA and the life he has here with Belinda who is also very happy here. It will get done! Iw will be shocked if it doesn’t at this stage.
Lucky we have a great track record with off field deals.

Apparently there's another hidden clause in Tippett's contract where we promise to trade him back in for a first rounder

Would it?

Wouldn’t the dozen or so exchanges we’ve had alone, exactly along the lines I’ve outlined, be enough?

Bearded clam (such wit) might be from the School for Kids Who Can't Read Good and Want to Do Other Stuff Good Too, but you’ve no excuse for misrepresenting our exchanges
I remember your claim that a general statement by P Keane about changes to FA was evidence that the AFL thinks Sloane is UFA.

I must have missed the bit where you picked apart my analysis of the relevant section of the published CBA and showed where my reasoning was wrong.

Bryce Gibbs isn’t going anywhere, unless some ridiculous deal of more than two first round draft picks comes along, they’ll be keeping a hold of him.”

Next week ...

It’s pretty clear MaClure gets fed by agents. His problem is he believes everything he’s told.

Or he doesn’t he just knows his role is to regurgitate what he’s told, else he’ll get no more info

Well to be fair, they did end up with 2 first round picks for Gibbs so I wouldn't think he was too far off the mark.

We got him for less than that

Did you read it?

Yep, implied that Carlton wouldn't be entertaining moving Gibbs on unless they get a ridiculous deal and that the trade would have to be on their terms.

In the end they got a deal including two first rounders which is what they were asking for last year, I actually don't see too much wrong with his statement.

If we gave them 8 first rounders and they gave 8 back, would that be way over 2 first round picks?

They got a deal that included receiving 2 first round picks which is what their asking price has been all along.

I think he worded it slightly strange, but pretty sure he meant that Carlton had no intentions of giving Gibbs away unless Adelaide came to the party and offered what Carlton wanted for him and wouldn't settle for anything less than that.

Would you mind telling me who Patrick Keane is, and what his job is?

Is he an official spokesperson for the league?

A simple yes/no will suffice :p

And you’ve ignored all the articles posted showing a clear divergence of opinion. They’re still there in this thread ;)

I think you must have. particularly about the part where you assumed the rules you were looking at were the current ones.

what has been said over and over, and I’m disappointed in your misrepresentation, is that there is a wealth of evidence showing that people believe otherwise which is an indication that nothing is so clear cut.

If your reading and analysis were that straight forward everyone would be on the same page, and what has been shown over and overs (despite the dodgy denials) is that they are not.

Leaping like a homeless alcoholic at a bottle of hooker wine (rose), at an article that supports you, because the tone of the wording leads you to believe it’s fact, and ignoring the others is cognitive dissonance at its finest

It’s clearly not simple issue as the confusion would not exist if it was

In the modern day a signing like his is a strategic club and marketing announcement. He could have just returned from putting pen to paper and his response would be no different at all.

Yes, it could be. Just like the stories about his signing could be false.

I'm more inclined to believe the story is false considering the media's history of almost always getting the details and timing of player signings wrong, particularly involving the notoriously tight-lipped Crows

Perhaps a refresher on who Patrick Keane is might help

Media manager for the last 19 years and the Official spokesman for the AFL / AFL Executive on the national competition.

Official spokesman for the AFL

And you don’t think an official statement from the AFL official spokesman represents the league view?

C’mon what sort of mental gymnastics are needed to think that’s it’s not. It’s just not credible to say the official spokesman in an official capacity doesn’t represent the league view

Now it is reasonable to identify the discrepancy and note that there is an inconsistency somewhere that needs to be clarified. Which Ken Wood will do with his official list
