Be very happy to get something around that. Adelaide will want to keep 8 for another SA player. Would Brad Crouch, 13 & 21 be enough?
Why Brad Crouch all the time - Matt Crouch IMHO has Greg Williams traits - had 45 possessions one game, including 33 handballs. Year younger too. FWIW - I’d do #2 for the pair of them.

is anyone else worried that GWS have found themselves in this situation and more importantly, in that we are duplicating the plan? Let’s hope we don’t find ourselves in this mess in 3 years time.
Not really - a well-built list will have excess young quality players who can't get a game. You want that, because it's how you improve the value of your draft selections and ensure you can constantly get access to high picks.

GWS are a victim of their location to a degree. It would definitely skew the numbers wanting out.

Dumb question, but why wouldn't GCS just deal with Adelaide/Port?

Happy to get involved if we can 'get paid' but seems unnecessarily complicated.

Yeh, I don't see how we can get from 1 down to 2 or 3 from GC. What we COULD do is selling 1 to Port or Adelaide for a top ~7 pick and other good stuff. But it's a lot easier for GC to make that sale than us, given they have a double-dip, and a lot more picks in play.

Given our list I’d be open to trading Cuningham to Suns along with 2019 1st to get pick 2 and a future 2nd.

I think that with pick 2, an SA club will offer us 6+10 or 8+13+16/21 to get pick 2.

That would offset the loss of Cuningham I think.
Adelaide seem pretty desperate push for 8 + 16 + 21 + next years 1st

Port list manager Jason Cripps "If Lukosius and Rankine end up going to Gold Coast, we're probably pretty happy to try to get them back in a few years' time," Cripps said.

"It's interesting, because then it just becomes a two-horse race between us and the Crows, as opposed to a Victorian kid that wants to come back home, who has potentially got 10 options. That's part of the discussion and strategy, but right at the minute, we're really comfortable with pick six."

Wow, that sounds just straight up hostile regardless of how truthful he thinks he's being.

Pushing hard to get pick 2 from GCS. Would be something like 2019 1st + knives (cas?). Then we take Walsh at #1, #2 goes to Adelaide or port on draft night for the best price available.

Can I just ask why the Suns wold give us pick 2 for our 2019 first rounder plus Casboult when they could just trade direct with either Adelaide club and get multiple 2018 first round picks?

Because they don't have high picks next year?

Would the AFL allow this? Rules are you can trade a future first or as many other future picks as you like but not both. They have been known to allow it though.

Yeah I said we'd need to get a future second somehow most likely. AFL might allow it anyway.

We have to get used to the fact that we will lose 2-3 of our players if we become as successful as anticipated... Cripps, Fisher, SPS (and maybe even Mitch) will be sought out hard by WA teams... then Geelong with their policy of trying to coax Geelong-area-country players back (recently Hendo, Danger, Rowan) will be targeting the likes of Dow, O'Brien, Walsh?, Charlie.

Being realistic, if we don't challenge for top 4 within 3 years our players won't stick around and will be easy to poach... especially you'd think by Bolt's 7th year he'd want to already have a final on his resume, else there'd be another coach and players might not care to go through that again. If we played finals this year I highly doubt it would be difficult to coax Byrne back... he'd rather go home and play in a decent side with his Irish club and get that winning feeling than travel away from home and get his butt whooped in every game he's ever played.

Think the AFL wouldn't be too happy with that comment... especially with GCS current predicament... they've got enough players wanting to jump ship and go home and to hear that other clubs list managers openly being frank about it wouldn't sit well with them. Even SOS made a joke about hoping a few of the Vic boys get traded interstate so he could have a crack at bringing them home in a few years time.

Comes back to the players having too much power in negotiations .
Sorry, but what a load of crap.

These players have a contract with the club. The club & player can choose to be traded or not.
Both parties have to agree.

Could you imagine having a contract with your employer and then have them trade you to the other side of the country, taking your kids out of school, your other half job interest irrelevant, your other interests totally irrelevant, all without you having a say>?

Also, can we put a lid on the Crouch from Adelaide, Wines from Port etc...why even bother asking? Player has to want to come and neither side is wanting to unravel their existing list for unproved youngsters no matter how South Australian the kids in the draft are.

There's no way either will be involved...we're better off bending them over for picks

Media has been vomit worthy in it's comparison of Lions v Blues lists. Like to see how the Lions go next year if the Beams trade to Pies goes through, and Freo holds LN to his contract. Please let it be so!!!!!
Don't wish for that just because the media has got up your nose... Beams, Sidebottom, DeGoey, Treloar, Pendlebury, Adams... would rather finish below the ladder than Brisbane than see the filth get number 16.

This is out and put draft tampering. Honestly, if we were involved in this, we'd be saying goodbye to pick1, knowing the AFL.

They need a grow a pair and do something about this.

Well hasnt this been the same thing with GWS really.... GWS got all the top players when they joined the afl and all victorian clubs said let them go we will come in the future and get them back to Vvictoria. Some would say we are big colprates of that with the amount of ex gws players in our side

Port are only just doing what us victorian clubs have done till now
