We'll snare another 2 elite midfielders with our 1st rounders 2018/19.

Well done Cats. So glad they stuck fat like we did with Gibbs two years back. When clubs try to get unfair contracted guy on the real cheap, they deserve to miss out.

Lions coughed for Adams, Dons coughed up for Shiel and I not heard deal on Beams but assume in end Pies did for him too. Good result allround for footy that Kelly stayed if Eagles not handing a top 10 pick for him.

Agree, I could never understand why either, our future 1st pick say top 5 is valuable , 2019 is an another strong top 10.

Really happy. Walsh will be this draft's Kelly, kid is special. Plus kept the first round 2019. Newman could be the smokey from the trades, bit of "Blood Culture" won't go astray either (replaces Byrne in spades)

I think some clubs are bad a trading, why if you Brisbane would you trade your best player in Beams for pick 18 that will probably end up being pick 24 with father sons and academy players and a future first.

I think we have had a great trade period. 9/10. Missed Shiel but in hindsight that is a good thing, given the price tag. Got some mature bodies in MCGovern, Fasolo, Newman and some emerging elite talent in Setterfield and kept pick one and next years first. Happy to go to draft as is.

My worry is that we haven't got the support Crippa needs in the middle....Shiel would have been worth it at the expense of this year's #1 pick.

I sort of view it differently. As has been stated by several others, Cripps is going to play his way whether he has support or not, so in a weird way this gives our young midfielders time to grow under his captaincy. I'm not worried about burning him out as such. However what I was worried about was was not having many players in his age bracket in the team to act as mentors/support, especially with Casey leaving. To a degree this has been addressed. I have a feeling that Newman will be great for Cripps given the professional environment he has come from.
