CFC had Walsh at #1 a lot further back than just the one month.
Adelaide clearly felt that Saints will finish further up the ladder than Carlton, if the same deal was offered up.....or else they just like us.

Not just that, if you look at what he actually said - GWS's list manager, as quoted in the article - he didn't question Walsh's selection at all, outlined the thinking involved and said that he would've taken the risk that Rankine represented, as the most talented player in the draft.Wow, we just can't do anything right...

The following episode of Cal Twomey and Nat Edwards' 'Road to the Draft' podcast contains an interview with Stock after he won the Morrish Medal.
While both Nat and Cal were impressed with his demeanor, their post-interview discussion of him suggests that Cal didn't rate him in top 20 calculations. Considering he went at 19 I guess it shows he was close to the money.

I think that may be because his inclusion of facts permits one to draw their own conclusion; rather than have a conclusion rammed down your throat, as journo's often do.
