Injury Wines has done his shoulder

I actually don't think we are overreacting.

Maybe a club that hasn't won a final in 4 seasons let alone a premiership should be more focused on preparing their bodies for an actual crack at finally achieving something this year. Maybe if we actually had achieved something recently we wouldn't care about this so much.

Having the newly appointed captain actually playing round 1 is fairly important in my opinion.

The club agreed to this so Ollie hasn't really done anything wrong but just another example of our club slipping in standards.

Those saying he is more likely to injure it at training are missing the point. He needs to be training, he doesn't need to be doing backflips on a wakeboard. I doubt very much he was going for a nice graceful slalom single ski, which i think would be far less risky than wakeboarding.

The melts on here are fantastic

He is a young man who on Australia Day went up the river for a ski like 1000s of other people who have positions that could affect their work if they got injured, yet because he is a footballer he is supposed to stay home and have a quiet day and not do anything that may risk an injury.

I bet you there are tons of other AFL footballers who do things in pre-season outside of training that could injure them.

Perhaps Ollie should play fortnite or do some underwear modelling instead of being a bloke in his early 20s who loves to ski.

They are footballers but they are entitled to live their own lives and participate in activities that they enjoy. Those same activities those that are melting are allowed to enjoy

Ban Australia Day.*

*keep the public holiday though

People can try and justify this all they want, but Ollie won’t be Wake boarding this time next year.

My money’s on getting his vertebrae cracked like knuckles during an impromptu backyard MMA matchup: “that could’ve just as easily happened to the guy who puts the magnetic strips on interpeak multitrips”

It’s hardly an over reaction, no AFL player should push themselves on a wakeboard on the verge of a new season, yes he’s a good wakeboarder, but this shows there is still a big risk involved.

Our #1 mid is now going in for surgery as a result of “having fun” and will miss the start of the year. That is unacceptable.

It’s about risk, and going hard on a wakeboard is an in neccissary risk.

Had he gone out and wakeboarded at say 70-80% and not gone hard this wouldn’t have happened and he’d be lining up round 1.

It’s about setting the standard for professionalism, and this is a complete lack of.
So you were there were you! You know exactly what he was doing, and how hard he was going, do you?

Your incessant rantings, over and over again, have become more than irritating & tiresome! We have all heard your opinion on this 100 times ... Now bugger off!

Participate in them sure but not 4 weeks before the season starts. If he wants to Ski whenever he wants he should quit professional sport. I don't entirely blame him though when the club doesn't give a shit despite Ollie being one of their highest paid.

Clearly he wasn’t having a brisk ski, you don’t end up with shoulder surgery if that’s all your doing.

This “over reacting” crap is nonsense. He is a professional AFL footballer and to miss 6-8 weeks of pre-season and possibly round 1 is not good enough.

If you don’t like people sharing their opinions on an open Internet forum and debating them. Stiff shit.

I’d like to point out, refer to SEN SA tweet .

“If you want to win premierships you need to get your act together”

But what would Sheedy know.

He literally does flips flying along the river.. surely you'd sit that out 4 weeks out from competitive match practice.

This is the key factor. We’re in-season now. If it was over Christmas/end of season trip or whatever when the players are on their own time that’s another story, riskiness aside.

If it’s a case of ‘nah, who cares, you can strain your quad having an extreme poo’ then why have caveats or rules governing player behaviour at all?

Lucky we follow Port then which is why not both?

Sent from mTalk

I can see old mate Aidyn sinking piss on Hindley St then drink driving to the riverland for a 3am ski.

If it's had a tighten up, that means he dislocated it. I bet we've taken the shorter recovery option rather than getting it reconstructed (like it really needs) and he'll play under duress all year and everyone will be like "why is wines so shit".

Will be a bold call to make him captain this year. Jonas for 2 to 3, then Wines.
