Caught Hirdy on radio this morning.

Darcy asked him if the door to coaching was open again. The pretty unequivocal response from the man himself: “no I don’t think so”.

Getting a bit of a feeling it is Hird exploring his options or softening people to him coming back via other parties.
Herald sun keep bringing it up, Sheedy keeps bringing it up.
Every time Hird himself is asked he says how he won't do it.

From a PR perspective it makes sense for other parties to push the narrative while you deny it so the general public are more receptive to a small entry back into the coaching ranks.
I highly doubt he ever becomes senior coach again. But some involvement in the game is a given, it just has to be managed

I think he said that on On the Couch in 2010 to be honest ;)

It's a pretty clear no for so many reasons but one in particular - it's pure and utter fantasy.

He used to say no constantly when he was a panel member at Fox footy. Then one day he decided to be coach.

My opinion I don't want him anywhere near the club. It'll put too much negative attention back into the club. Certainly a few players wouldn't feel comfortable having him back as coach either.

Please stop listening to fake news

I'd hate for Hird to bring negative attention to the club, I'd much rather negative attention be on the club because we are playing like shit

I think if a club (any club or even the AFL or AFLPA) don't tap into him as an assistant, development coach, scout or an off field development style role (helping players grow their businesses, money making opportunities or study) it is a wasted opportunity.

Wish someone would write the article that needs to be written.

‘Generational good, wholesome boi continues to be generational good, wholesome boi and you all need to take a good, hard look at yourselves’.

What a man

That's different to coming back to EFC. I think that ship has well and truly sailed.

I think he was sold out by the afl.
I'd take him back because i recon he has a good footy brain and was adaptable as a coach. He coached but he brought bomber Thompson in to guide him. smart move.
I have it on good authority that the supplements we took were no different to what geelong took yet one team kept their 3 glass and one was put to slaughter by the afl

I believe the Club and mainly Tim Watson pushed and pushed James until he gave in.
The Club owes him big time.

If it went to a player vote and the players were accepting of Hird coaching, then I would be happy to have him back.

The past sucks. Who knows for sure what did/didn't happen. We have more stringent controls in place so hopefully it will never happen again.

The good thing about Hird as coach, which others have touched on, is that the players went out and played for him. I can't recall any efforts like Sunday under Hird.

EDIT: Should add that I am a fan of Hird as a player, and supplements aside (which is pretty big) as a Coach. I am not a fan of Worsfold. I don't really care too much if Worsfold is or isn't replaced, just so long as that if he is, it is by a competent coach that has the support of the playing group.

Extenuating circumstances though there may have been, there were many such efforts like Sunday’s in 2015.

Apart from that time we lost to the 14th placed Saints by 110 points and the 7th placed Crows by 112 points or the time the Blues belted us by 96 points or the time the Hawks trashed us by 94 points or when the Dogs beat us by 87 point or Collingwood by 79 or Collingwood by 74 or Carlton by 74.

Other then those there was no times we gave up under Hird like we did Sunday.
