That's a bizzarre statement JaB.

Which 5? And how many of your 5 are midfielders?

Which leads to the question, yet again, which of our current midfield gets dumped for Kennedy? And why do they deserve it?

Time to ease the old fellas out mate.

Interesting reading the last 20 pages or so, my 10c worth:
  • Seems like a horses for courses selection for Sydney at Marvel
  • They are tall fwd so we seem to have brought Marchy in to match them - Jones/Buddy, Weiters/Reid, Marchy/Blakey. Plow to probably take resting bigger mids like Heeney/Dawson (all within a zone construct of course). I'm not concerned about Marchy's health as Russell habitually makes them wait too long (ask any observant Hawks supporters), I love Marchy but slightly concerned that he can miss by foot until he gets his gameplay up to speed....play in the V early son, no millionaire shots!!
  • I like Garlett back, lots to work with but a long way to go. No issue with him in the side or going back to VFL to work on it, especially his left foot which whilst it looks like a clean action it has been an issue for him since his underage days. I just hope they persist with him in the position to give him the best chance long term.
  • They are short back with only Rampe and Aliir so maybe we're looking to exploit their lack of marking power with Cas and allowing Harry to stay deep fwd and not ruck
  • LOB's is one of my favourite Blues as I wanted him in his draft year really early on. His running and kicking are so pure. I hope he and our other mids lower their eyes and utilise our fwds on the lead rather than playing into the hands of Sydney by bombing it fwd, allowing the 3rd man up and cleaning up the ground ball
  • I would have liked Kennedy in, but think when they selected Cas, it may have been too much for another slower inside mid. I hope we make some positional moves to cover it from within - example might be LOB to the wing, Murph to HFF and Ed into the guts with the big boys if we need it. Don't tag with Setters, let him roam free wilderbeast style. Will be interesting to see if we try to shut down Lloyd of HBF
  • Never been a Faz believer as he offers minimal pressure when not kicking goals, good on Cam Effron for taking his chance last week, keep the development going.
  • IMO there is a fair difference between a fringe player (a Simpkin or a Cheney) and a player on the fringes of selection (for whatever reason - talent, development, positional depth)....but not enough of a worry to argue too hard about
  • How good is Maddy P (just had to mention it)...little cloned diesel even has the tape on the arm!!
Really hope we can get a win against the Swannies, imagine the posts in the "How Crow can you go" thread if we are above them on the ladder after 3 rounds...

Go Blues

Time to ease the old fellas out mate.

As much as I rate them if Murphy Simpson Thomas and even Curnow & Kruezer are pushed out over the next 12 months we are doing well.

Look who is missing from this weeks side plus we will bring in more talent at the end of the season.

What if Casboult goes well tomorrow....can anyone see a squad with Casboult, Harry, McGovern, Charlie and Kreuzer?? Potentially gives us 2 guys who can give Kruezer a spell in games once the big fella comes back.....then adding Charlie, gives us 4 to rotate in our forward line....1 rucks, always 3 bigs fwd, most really mobile.....Kruezer rucks, Charlie can go mid/wing....gives us options/flexibility. Will be there tomorrow and keen to see how Casboult goes. Don't think he's going to get Sydney's best back....Just a thought....

Easy I reckon. Charlie can easily play that roaming half forward/wing hard-to-match-up type. His aerobic capacity will allow him to do so.

We need to look at a similar set up anyway as TDK isn't far away.

I hope to see TDK & McKay as our big targets supported by McGovern. Charlie as a more mobile player on a wing

Casboult a short term option, giving time for TDK to recover, develop etc for the longer term....More I think about, the more I like....

Am definitely being optimistic, but if this somehow works, wouldn't it be a great problem for the MC....and our opposition.
Uncharted territory!

Yeah. Love the intrigue and how it will play out. I hope he plays a monster team game .

Hmmm... sorry can't agree with you on this one. 30 touches is 30 touches. Don't think any other players got close to this. If it was so easy, why not?. And pleeeaase don't compare him to Kerridge or Graham. That's just not right. Cripps has always been bagged as slow, yet he is one of the best players in the league. Back to Kennedy, we know he had ankle issues last year. All reports are that he is moving really well.
We don't have a lot of solid contested mids. Alot of our guys are small and get rag dolled. Against Sydney, who are by all reports slow anyway, I think he deserved selection! Play the guys inform. If he is BOG, what more can you do.
I'm happy with the other changes and think the team should win. I just hope we don't regret it.

I agree completely, think he should of come in and would have been the perfect matchup for his namesake

Only thing I can think of is he hasn't reached the required fitness levels

But 30 disposals, seems to be a reasonable level of fitness to me

Yes it is the Victory Room for CC Members just near Aisle 16.

Would love to see some defensive positioning from our wings. Back corner of their zone.
Charlie running high as soon as the ball is bounced into the high wing space. Our mids knowing this will happen!
This creates a 5 man forward line with space to lead into.

People also forget that last year just when Cas was starting to play some decent games he got thrown in the ruck every time one of our rucks went down early. With that and injuries we never got to see the best of him. Yet somehow he became a waste of space according to one faction of bigfooty.
Playing forward last year would have been incredibly frustrating as a player, ball movement and delivery were very ordinary, just going on the JLT and first to rounds so far there has been a massive difference in the both of these areas.
We still have plenty improvement in these areas to work on as well, but Casboult never having the chance of decent delivery into the forward line for as long as you could remember, along with another two quality key forwards should give him a great chance of showing off he's contested marking
Here's hoping he has a day out.BB
