That doesn't mean he didn't impact the contest. Did you expect him to go up, spoil the mark, land on his feet and find the ball or get back to his opponent before a North player found him? How many player can control where the ball goes when they launch themselves to spoil a mark?

By punching it forward as most competent defenders do.

Bit rough I would think.

If you can afford to let your kid throw a $120 jumper in the bin because he didn't like his team losing, you either have too much money or are happy to set your kid up for a lifetime of lacking the resilience to get through what life throws at you.

Either way, it seems strange to allow that kind of behaviour ... if it really did happen.

Lob, supposedly the best kick in his draft, turns it over with no pressure on him.

Runs down his opponent well and pushes him in desperation.

It's not fair on the kid to play him at this level when he's obviously not ready.

If you only just make the contest because you have left your man and sprinted to impact the contest late, the spoil is not always able to be directed. You of course, would have preferred he stayed with his man and let the mark be taken.

You're right but that's not his fault. He's earned his selection when he's gotten it compared to some others who miss out. I'd rather people pay it out on the team/development of it than pay it out on individuals.

When people call for player outs it appears - more often than not (some aren't guilty of it) - to be a criticism of the player. I think that's the case by and large with those calling for LOB to be dropped. Instead, I see it being a question of where he will develop best.

Earned selection might be a stretch.

SOS has ensured that BB has no choice except to play the kids, particularly the higher draft picks, as he’s given Bolts absolutely nothing as an alternative.

Say what u like about Bolts and the players but SOS needs to own a VERY large chunk of the rubbish we dished up last year and today.

If trend continues then we will play structureless non cohesive football rest of year.

Bolton does have a say on recruiting

Maybe, but I think a lot of it comes down to the development system into which a club brings players.

You bring half of these guys into Hawthorn’s system for example, Geelong maybe Collingwood or a number of others and they work in an established system and know their part when it’s time to contribute.

Carlton haven’t had any sense of a credible development house for at least a decade. A few good ones have established themselves but there’s an absence of that elite system the good teams have. I don’t think it’s necessarily the recruitment aspect of things, but what happens when they arrive at the club.

Yes it was a shocking game. Just reading preview threads people every week have unrealistic expectations of this team. You can't play 14 players with less then 50 games and not expect a let down here and there.
