He was never going to cost that much, we would’ve got something back with pick 1. Probably Setterfield.
If we were really that keen on Setterfield and Stocker than it would’ve probably just been pick 1 and future second for Shiel, Setterfield and pick 14 (where we take Stocker) leaving us with our first rounder this season.
SOS obviously had plans for future picks anyway.

It’s irrelevant anyway because the thing Shiel would’ve brought isn’t measurable anyway as it would be more about creating a better environment for players to develop. That’s why we were so desperate for him.

This guy/gal/person gets it :thumbsu:

We WERE well prepared to pay the price to get him. So keen in fact we were apparently in his ear until he signed on the dotted line with essendon making the biggest mistake of his life. People console themselves by looking at his output now in a terrible midfield full of sea gulls. Him next to cripps and sps for the next few years (while he's at his peak) would be a far different story.

That said, I love Walsh. I'm not convinced we ever had pick one on the table though. More likely 2019 first rounder and other options.

Time line had changed for coach.

Scott decision is so he puts himself in best position for plum job. 4 others now expected to increase chatter.

Heat now on board as their head has been turned.
Don't really understand what you're suggesting here.

- "Timeline" = Bolt needs results? Can understand that.
- "Plum job" = Scott keen for us? Understandable, hard work has been done.
- No idea what "4 others now expected to increase chatter" means, as in 4 prospective coaches are making themselves known?
- Heat as in just tough decisions ahead? Have all heads been turned?

There are some serious discussions and if there is no MLG, there may well not be Bolton.

Something like this was always on the cards and as dominoes start to fall elsewhere, one can understand the CFC having to position itself to make the most of any possible fall-out elsewhere.

MLG backing Bolton means little if MLG isn't there. I don't think anyone knows for sure what may yet come about, but as if that's going to stop speculation. :)

Looking in from the outside ...

all I see is 60K+ membership for the first time ever + enhanced professionalism in management depth all over the club which kinda adds up to a few ticks for the President I would have thought...

I did note an extended positive response from Bolton regarding the President's internal performance at Carlton ...in response to questions about any internal pressure on Bolton from within Carlton in Bolton's latest presser

Who knows if anyone's personal health or other issues may see them having to step back - back I'd be shocked to see a change of President announced for any other reason.

I also took note of Cripps and Docherty's closed room 'brutal' feedback session with players - something which may have taken place sooner I would have thought - does it point to anything? maybe or maybe not...I like it anyway

I suspect that if Bolton goes - Club can say goodbye to Cripps and a few others though I wouldn't be wanting to go down that road if i were anyone seeking to rock the boat re President or Coach.

Lets not forget hat the #1 word so far along this journey has been "Unity" - toss that out the door and a lot more goes with it.

Yes.

4 other coaches looking for a move... Managers working the phones... Mail is Robbo got leaked the story deliberately to force the hand of some clubs which has caused coach managers to go to work...

Solid debate = addressing the first half of my post explaining the plenty of good players that aren’t good kicks.

Instead, you prefer to not engage as usual.
why would I engage with a fortune teller? you keep on telling people how you know we'd have won 2-3 more games with the addition of one other player - I'll stick to things that have happened and opinions I rate - ie not yours........

A clubs board always has to keep its eyes open in how to best improve the club across all areas and when it comes to the football department, the likes of LLoyd, SOS and Liddle would be called on for their views, one would imagine.

Unity? Sounds good in principle but when the heat gets turned up, it's not surprising to bring about an 'Every man for himself' scenario.
Not suggesting that's happening, but one would be naive to think it couldn't, regardless of what we may be preaching to the masses.

We're sort of going around in circles right now, but that's nothing for what may yet come about through the course of the next week.
Can't see anything happening mid season Harks, think we've come a long way with our structure off field to let any knee jerk reaction to what's going on at North change things.
