Bonar I believe is contracted to till 2021, we don't have a second round pick so will likely cost is the crows pick. Do people think that he would add to our list.
In my opinion we are better off going that pick for a mature talent.
Dont think theres any chance we give up the crows pick for Bonar. Unless of course we get gws' 1st back. Eg: pick 12 for 18 and Bonar.

There is a greater chance that I will win the Brownlow medal next year in a premiership winning Carlton team than James Hird coaching us.

It’s a shame, the rumour was so uplifting but you had to ruin it by taking it too far. Should’ve stopped at just the rumour it would’ve generated positive chat for at least 18 hours.

I gave up trying to decipher the message after a minute. Legend.

I know Jimmae will be really pleased if we managed to snag A Bonar.

As you said previously, we have enough talented kids...can't see why we'd be interested in any of those players, including Bonar.

Like Setterfield he's also had ACL injuries, he hasn't played many AFL games. He'd likely need time just like Setterfield.
We just dropped Setterfield and LOB, we don't need another young mid...

Brad Scott will not be Carlton Head Coach next year.

Source: a Board member I know through business contacts (and yes I called him and asked - the conversation started with "you can't be that ******* stupid").

No decision has been made to change. The Club will not be reactive. Results will dictate what occurs. Though if they do move, it will be before the end of the season so that a process can be run. They are conscious about not getting left behind other clubs, but feel Bolton deserves the chance to show what he can do for the bulk of the year.

There is concern that the poor results is having an impact on Patrick Cripps. He has not said anything to the Club but his body language has been noted and he will have a big say in what happens with Bolton. Expect internal discussions over the bye if results continue as they are.

Sounds about right.

I think any rumour stating for a fact we will be getting person x as coach is full of it.

Club is backing Bolton for now and as Judd said, the plan is he will be the long term coach. Results over the next month or more will dictate whether that stance changes.

Yeah it's concerning Cripps has showed his frustrations on the field the last few weeks...can't blame him. Really bad look for us though, the coaching with our structures would appear to be poor and the young mids just aren't stepping up enough.

Without giving too much away if we beat Essendon then a few more games and Bolton keeps his job it would be very ironic.

Sounds like you're implying it's Hird.

There's just no way your source could be right about that.
I could believe we've spoken to Hird about an assistant role, not head coach. The way he left AFL, there's no way he walks straight back in as a head coach, and at one of his former clubs biggest rivals at that.

I couldn't stomache the thought of Tird at Carlton. FFS I nearly regurgitated my dinner.

You just dont get a 1st for a guy who isn't playing seniors. And the NEAFL ain't that good
You also don’t trade a contracted player taken 11 in the draft two years ago, who was always going to take time, with a huge ceiling for seconds. Also if he was at our club he would be playing every week. It doesn’t make him a better or worse prospect.

True. Unless he demands out. He is worth a pick 20-25 imo. Nothing more. I think if we found a pick in that range they would let him go

Contracts are worth doodly squat these days....we got a pick 5 in Setters for a few 2nd rounders, so don't count it out.

GWS has a brilliant list strategy stockpiling top end talent, with the knowledge that they can't keep them all....so they trade those not currently in their starting line up for high draft picks, and bring in more high end talent. The best will rise, the others will likely get traded. Two 1st rounders for Shiel, they'd be rapt with that deal.

They also have a kid named Caldwell waiting in the wings, so pushes Bonar even further back.

Big bodied mid who bursts out of stoppages, could be more than useful.

I don’t know why they would though. NEAFL isn’t great but GWS have played 5 of 7 games against AFL’s twos sides and Bonar has been in the best 5 times. He is probably tracking as well as they could’ve hoped, i don’t think they are going to let go of him now.

They have plenty ahead of him. You may not see it but if they have 2 kids they believe are better long term for the club, contract or no contract, they will cash in. A early 2nd would easily do it if he wants out

Setterfield was on ridiculous money, losing him helped relieve salary cap pressure when he is still a long way off getting a game for them. Bonar and Caldwell are the exact types they will want to keep as they can fit in with any structure and they found their replacement for Setterfield with Hatley.

No one is mentioning Scott burns. Has one of the better resumes and is spoken about very highly.

...

Also i think we should keep bolton for next year. Just thought I would mention burns
Scott Burns was the third candidate to Barker and Bolton last time around. That would be why he is not mentioned

No I don’t see it. His ceiling is enormous and he is tracking great and now they want to move him on for less than half of what they paid for him. It’s like saying we will cash in on setterfield for a 3rd rounder.

Edit he will most likely step into Deledio or Tomlinson’s role next season if they leave and be on half the money. You would also hope he could play Reid’s role. They have plenty of spots for these kids.
